This is not the answer to your work flow, but I found a lightweight solution that works for my simple designs: OpenSCAD

The work flow here is to implement geometrical shapes within a few lines of code.

It's great with the right setup (1 SSD per OS and boot from grub). Whether you have Ubuntu and Fedora or Ubuntu and Windows doesn't matter then.

Carmageddon and GTA were quite some bangers, and I think they still are. Or Age of Empires 1&2.

REISUB would sync all remaining disk operations and then restart the entire machine.

You could try the old combo for restarting X: Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. I'm not sure though, whether it will work on your system.
