was there even an official app or plans to make one? I think this is a popular opinion.

I used to do that, but it was a chore to keep monitoring my battery life. I wish there were a "charge phone to 80% and stop" option.

this is why i find all the talk of "defederate threads" on lemmy a bit premature.

Meta isn't even thinking about the fediverse at this point, they're just using it as a buzzword. Their focus is on growth.

I mean, most of the population isn't buying a new phone every year, it's just that there are enough people using phones in general that at any given time there are people buying new models. It's the same reason why there are people buying cars every year.

I personally use my phones for about 3 years. Sometimes up to 4, but usually year 3-4 is when the battery degradation gets so horribly bad and performance stutters so much that I figure if I'm going to do a full reset and buy a new battery and all that, I might as well get a new phone.

oh yeah I'm sure Pam would have been very different if she ended up with the role.

Boeing handed over 50 airplanes to customers last month, up from 35 in April, though it trails rival Airbus in deliveries so far this year.

Boeing last week said a new manufacturing flaw will slow near-term deliveries of its 787 Dreamliners.

The Paris Air Show kicks off on Monday, when Boeing, Airbus and other aerospace manufacturers will meet with customers and potentially announce more new orders.

Not an easy balance to make here.

A whole generation has already cashed in on property prices. Unfortunately Mah Bow Tan's policies have contributed to the divide between property haves and property have-nots. Now the government is stuck between two parties - those who have property investments want it to rise, those who don't yet have a house want affordable housing.

As someone in the latter camp I find it demoralising to see prices slowly creep higher and higher at a faster rate than my salary grows...

Saw this on eurobricks and thought it was really cool, the old-school Art Deco style details are really on point.
