This is why I don't agree with the moneybro Redditors who seem to want you to put every penny into investing for retirement or working aggressively to pay down student loans or your mortgage...leaving little money to use for day to day enjoyment.

We have absolutely no idea how long we will live. I think there's a healthy balance between investing for the future and enjoying the now.

I'd be surprised if any celebrity was on Lemmy lol. It seems like it would be for everyone! That sounds pretty interesting to me!

Your last paragraph reads rather odd to me. Poly relationships exist but involve mutual consent. That's the reason why cheating in many cases is not at all ok. Because the other party doesn't consent to it and it's done in secrecy and deep violation of the person's trust. It's ok to have multiple partners or have sex with other people. You can too if you want to! But everyone involved has to agree with that kind of a setup for a relationship. Hiding it and hurting the other person is almost always immoral and wrong, even if it "feels good" to you. There are ways that all parties can consent to make your "feeling good" not hurting or taking advantage of others.

Maybe not quite, but iml it's certainly leaps and bounds better that altering your identity entirely in submission of a partner.

I bought a robot vacuum simply because I am incredibly lazy. Guess what? I'm often even too lazy to run the robot vacuum lol.

Sorry I'm not understanding what you mean

I would think it would be just as weird to collectively switch to matronymic last names as a society. It would make more sense to me if couples just decided which name they liked better and went with that, be it coming from the man or woman. So a more even split of that sort of pattern is what I mean.

In drug tests, they want to make sure you aren't diluting the sample for drug testing lol. Very common practice when getting a new job. They let you wash your hands after they take the sample. It's just awkward and embarrassing with your piss hands in the interim lol.

I think it varies with culture, but from my understanding, usually they take the first name of the two hyphens for their own marriage.

So you have John Doe and Jane Smith. They hyphenate their names as Doe-Smith and the children do as well.

Say they have a daughter Sally Doe-Smith who meets Tim Johnson-Star. So they marry and hyphenate their names as Johnson-Doe. Both Smith and Star get dropped.

Yes, in examples like this, it still ends up as getting rid of the maternal aspect of the lineage in the very end...but the point is still that both parties are keeping part of and changing another part of their names. It's not an all or nothing total switch of identity. The lineage is male, but the here and now is an equal compromise of identity.
