You both are making such massive assumptions about the other, with these grand sweeping accusations, that I can't tell if this is satire.

I lived through George Bush, and then Obama. Yeah, we fought a war. The US was at war before either Bush took the reins, and we were still at war after Obama left office. Yeah, hundreds of thousands of innocents died. Shits no different today. We just had a guy assassinated for profiting off the deaths of hundreds of thousands of US citizens by denying care they were entitled to. No different than the war profiteering of yore or today, but far more impactful on the actual lives of most here in the USA I'd wager.

Evil people exist fucking everywhere, take a gander at your local sex offender registry. Usually has a map.

"Most degenerate generation"? Come on, if they're too young to remember Bush they haven't even had enough time to make a difference. All the shit you see in the world is two generations removed from them. Look at every person in high government; nearly all of them are over 50 years old. Last time I checked, the oldest gen Z person is half that in age.

Neither of you are making adult arguments, and are reducing yourselves to insults to feign a superior argument. Ya know, the same tactics kids at recess use.

All of you are hilarious. YOU WIN EITHER WAY. But all your calculations are wrong, because you can breathe fast and take small steps.

Are you really using the same arguments as big coal?

"You, the consumer, are the problem. Not us, no", like consumers are killing the chocolate farmers. No, the people killing the chocolate farmers are killing the chocolate farmers. If you drive a car in the USA, you aren't responsible for the 100 million tons of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere, or the millions of gallons of crude oil spilled into the ocean— companies like Exon and Shell are. You merely live in a country where automobile companies lobbied hard for cities to be built dependent on cars.

You had no say in that, just like you have no say in what produce is at your supermarket, or what baby formula, or what your kids favorite drink is going to be.

That's like saying, "if you eat bannanas you endorse the murder and rape of south americans and the colonization of hawaii". Shits just not true.

I think someone else already posted the information above about hosting your own account on a private server, so I won't double dip there. But yeah, you totally could host your own server with accounts :)

Well ain't that a sweeping generalization. Almost like it can't possibly be true...

Bluesky is built on an open, decentralized protocol. There are appications that allow the AT protocol to federate with Mastodon, even. So yeah, move to Bluesky. Its not like Mastodon isn't also a private company.

Literally anyone could build apps on top of the AT protocol to create a parallel Fediverse to the ActivityPub protocol Fediverse. Best case scenario is we fold them in.

Thank you. This is not the kind of thing I thought I'd be having trouble telling truth from fiction about in 2025.

I am so confused by this comment, and further confused as to all the upvotes.

There is clearly an inside joke that I'm not getting, or people are really hot for gingers.

Naw, we are talking about the same thing. I bring up infrastructure, as many have, because that's the reality of the situation. The entire continental United States is built for cars, and that's not changing anytime soon. The reality is that cars are necessary, and at this time, it is near impossible and a safety hazard for most americans to try and use bikes due to the hostile road infrastructure in place.

It is NOT economically more feasible here, at this time, and unless the investors that have put billions of dollars into lobbying for car-dependent cities suddenly want to default on their near-hundred year investment, it isn't going to happen.

Ooof, that hurt to read.

“The nature of your crimes and abuse of power displayed in covering them up represents an unforgivable betrayal of the public trust and indicates a total impossibility of reform,” declared Merchan during the sentencing. “It has been proven beyond doubt that you offered Ms. Daniels $40 and some Burger King to keep your tryst ‘on the DL,’ so as not to jeopardize your chances of a shift supervisor promotion and $2 per hour raise at an Amazon warehouse. It is my hope that this sentencing will show the American people that such a lack of ethics will not be tolerated in the lower-mid echelons of our nation’s great privatized shipping and receiving companies, may God have mercy on your soul.”

Is this a parody site? There is no way this kid is going to prison for life over 40 bucks and some burger king.

I had chagas as a kid, and it wreaked havoc on my body. One doc pointed out I probably had some organ scarring. That was over ten years ago. So, as the title, do I need to be on my toes as I get older?
