I know I had a similar issue way back, ram issues are like chasing a mirage. It's possible the memory controller can't handle 4 sticks of ram anymore.

There's only one I can think of, the Faldor Massacre. https://runescape.wiki/w/Falador_Massacre Basically a bug let players kill anyone they wanted even in safe zones. This meant a lot of people lost a lot of gear. Ironically occurring on the date 06/6/06.
It's complicated but basically the gods learned that flexing their full strength caused cataclysmic events. Not ideal. But in doing so they got rid of Sauron's daddy, so it wasn't all gloom. But it did mean they weren't keen on the idea of going rampage mode to deal with a lesser threat.
