This doesn't belong in News, so I'm downvoting this post, but if you repost it somewhere more appropriate, I would upvote it.

When I close my eyes and see my demons, I engage them in a staring contest and fall contentedly asleep.

I'm not sure what genre you would call it, but I also enjoy that type of photography as well.

I will not give the NY Times any attention, so I can't read the article. Do you have another article on this?

[–] Crackhappy 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

That is damned impressive. If you didn't tell me that was AI I would have been fooled.

Wow, they're just doubling down on being bad actors.

They don't just instantly depressurize the plane to 8,000 feet, that's just the highest cabin altitude that is typically set, as going higher than that can lead to hypoxia problems, and lower can create too much stress on the airframe. So pretty much as soon as you start ascending, the pressure differential is going to be high enough you're going to struggle to open it, if you could get it to budge at all.

Trump would never read the articles. But he would see the cartoon.

Is that a sly reference to The Stormlight Archives?

I usually stick to up cumming plans, yes.

I discovered Farscape in 2003, late at night dealing with immense pain after cancer treatment. Late night cable airings.

As I dealt with the pain and the anguish of cancer, the one thing I looked forward to was the adventures of John and Aeryn, Moya, Crais, D'Argo, Zhaan, etc.

I still celebrate Farscape. It has a special place in my heart for so many reasons.

It is better than I remember. The visual effects are far better than should have been possible for the time. The story is exquisite. As I watched it all I could think was "For Democracy!'

I have a specific need for this particular tool in regards to an antique desk.

Elijah Wood was miscast as Frodo (self.unpopularopinion)

Martin Freeman would have been a much better Frodo. Elijah isn't even in the top 100 list of actors that I would cast as Frodo.

The LOTR movies succeeded despite him.

Don't get me wrong, I like Elijah. I just feel that he was miscast in those films.

I started playing at a dark time, enjoying the arcade feel of the game, racing on my keyboard, as it was meant to be.

Nadeo is bound and determined to say "FUCK YOU" to digital inputs, and has now wholeheartedly embraced analog inputs. just like every other racing game

Trackmania was a different thing, a harkening back to a simpler time. No more.

I'm going to miss racing with you guys, but the reason I started playing is getting phased out.

May your cuts work, your racing lines be clean, and have fun, my friends.

I really enjoy pointing out the amazing part of being, the little things, the butterfly that appears unexpectedly that flutters and passes by, the stars in the sky, an amazing coincidence of happenstance that flutters by. I don't assign any of that to someone or something, inexplicably, unexpectedly, deciding that this tiny being on an insignificant ball of rock should suddenly command attention. It makes no sense. I prefer the idea that I make my own meaning, and I choose my own destiny. I choose to be a good person, and I choose to be who I want to be. I don't need a Sky Daddy to tell me to be good. I just am good.
