P47's Cancelled Mega Drive Port: A 35-Year Journey to Release

In a journey spanning decades, the dream of bringing Jaleco's 'P47: The Phantom Fighter' to Sega Mega Drive consoles has finally become reality. City Connection, the company behind this revival, is set to release P47 II on March 13th in Japan for ¥8800, followed by a worldwide release for $54.99/€64.99.

Box Art and Content:

The game will come with a unique packaging artwork by Tankro Kato, renowned for his plastic model box art. Additional bonuses include an 8mm CD of the original soundtrack, a full-color manual, and individually numbered commemorative slipcover.

Special Release Date Updates: Western Distribution & Pre-Order Window

Retro-Bit is handling western distribution with pre-orders running until February 16th, 2025. This move by Retro-Bit comes to cater a wider player base beyond Japan's borders with special events and pre-orders available.

Quote from Tankro Kato: Congratulations on the release of P-47 II MD. I was deeply honored when offered the role of illustrating the main visual. The passion of the original developers in crafting a visually effective game within the limitations of the time greatly inspired me. I hope my illustration captures that same spirit...

What did you think about the original "P47: The Phantom Fighter"? What are your hopes for this port?

Yep, I bought some caged jeans a couple years ago and was not digging the hassle of finding somebody with a key. Basically doubled the try on time.

Microsoft wants all future apps to go through their store. Basically like Apple does in Mac [ appears you can ]. I do believe this is the future for Windows apps. Once that happens, Valve running on Windows will be second fiddle. Valve's only choice is to migrate to another OS or end up like Mozilla.
