YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Hi! I just came over from rif, the app I had been using for the last 11 years to browse reddit. So because of the new API changes, rif having to shut down, and my stubborn loyalty to the devs at rif: I will let my reddit account sit in the ether to die in peace since the only app that I used that account on has now been snuffed out. The devs at rif recommended Lemmy so here I am saying hi, and to ask if you have any recommendations for an app to use for Lemmy? Thanks!

Hello! I suppose quite a lot of us are here because of rif's recommendation. I'm using Jerboa transitioning from Rif.

I was RiF used for about 10 years.

I'm loving wefwef.app

Its super close to RiF and even has some features that are better.

Wefwef looks too much like the ios settings ui for me feels wrong to use it on an android I've been using jeroboa though and it's almost the same as rif with a few quality of life updates like thread colours I haven't had any issues with it crashing tho so I might just be lucky

I use WefWef atm because Jerboa doesn't work for me. WefWef is a WebApp but it works best for me. Plus, the dev keeps updating his app very often.

Jeroboa looks good but it wouldn't let me log in. I tried thunder also but it was very slow. I'm using connect to lemmy right now which is working great! Boost for lemmy is coming out in a few weeks, check it out on the app store. The layout looks almost identical to rif so I can't wait for that!

I've been using Connect for Lemmy and it's been pretty good so far. Definitely check it out!

I too let my account sit in the RIF purgatory lol, I thought there weren't any apps but theres already a couple to pick from on the play strore. People are fast

[–] Gabha1122 2 points 1 year ago

Lol nice, yeah I saw a couple things for that I'll definitely be checking that out and going to be on the lookout for what the rif devs do next and also probably go check out Tildes.

I like Jeroboa the best, but it has been crashing a lot lately. Liftoff is what I'm using at the moment, and it is decent.

You sent the comment 3 times, should probably delete the other two haha.

I too was an 11 year Redditor and deleted my account. Let's see how this goes!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I thought you had to be 13 to use Reddit hurhur

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I'm waiting for Boost which was announced recently.

[–] janonymous 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Currently I would recommend liftoff, also coming from rif.

[–] sock 1 points 1 year ago

i think liftoff is the most reddit looking for me, i do like Thunders look a lot but its buggy currently

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Hey new guy, welcome! I was only a little over 2 years on reddit and my 3rd party app is actually still up (RedReader). Nevertheless, do I want to be part of a community that is so dominated by corporate interests? My personal answer is 'not really'...

[–] Tamhenk 2 points 1 year ago

I'm also a RIF user. Currently using Liftoff and I'm very happy with it. I started with Jerboa but it became very unstable. When it gets fixed I might go back but for me it's between Jerboa and Liftoff.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Jerboa and wefwef are both pretty RIF-like. Jerboa can be buggy sometimes and wefwef is a web app rather than a native app, though. I've also been trying out Connect for Lemmy and Liftoff.

I haven't found an app that let's me add new communities that haven't been added to your instance yet, though. For that, I still have to use the web browser.
