Correction: no, it's allowing people to vote that's wrong

(According to the fascist GOP, not me)

we have a representative democracy because (some variant of “people are idiots”)

Every republican I’ve ever spoken with (who are also people, barely)

That's the great thing about large groups. Average it all together and you can in fact estimate the number of jelly beans in a jar.

That's the valid next step once they realize it's the voters who are wrong.

[–] Viking_Hippie 11 points 1 year ago

Yeah I know. I'm saying that they're at that step already and some of them aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

"We obviously weren't extreme enough, let's suggest public executions for women who even do a google search on abortions!"

Ramasmarmy in last night's debate talked about how the Republican party is a party of losers.

Then doubled down on the far-right rhetoric and buzzwords.

Hey bud, Smarmy my dude, you're what's losing the Republicans votes.

He blamed their loses on women (including the RNC Chairwoman) and "the media". This party has it's head so far up it's own ass.

This is the inevitable end of talk radio (now podcasts/YouTubers) angering the base and making them more extreme. Now you have to be extreme to win the primary, then you can’t win in the general

The trouble is, it doesn't matter. There's been a paradigm shift; in the past a politician had to win an election. Sarah Palin proved you could lose and still find a way to get paid. Someone like Lauren B. will be snapped up as a talking head and have a book movie deal the day she leaves Congress.

That's the whole point of the independent state legislation theory. Republican state legislators can just "correct" the elections whenever the voters don't choose the right option at the polls.

It's not a theory.... That's the fucking US government.

Ohio voted to put protections for abortion into the state constitution. Democrats also won on state level stuff in Virginia and Kentucky.

"Poor people lose trust in politicians. That's a problem for our democracy."

No, you’re out of time.
