The Arizona senator believes she single-handedly saved the U.S. Senate.

What does the future hold for Kyrsten Sinema? The Arizona senator, who’s best described as a dull person’s idea of an interesting person, famously flounced from the Democratic Party last December. While she’s remained a part of the Democratic caucus since then, she’s now seeking reelection outside of its auspices and against a more institution-minded member of her former party, in the form of Representative Ruben Gallego—who’s not been subtle about his antipathy for the incumbent. So for the first time in a long while, Sinema’s been forced to consider the possibility that her time in Washington may be coming to an end.

But if remarks attributed to her in a new book by McKay Coppins are any guide, she seems sanguine about her future and determined to go out with her trademark delusions of grandeur. As Insider reported this week, Sinema makes a cameo in Coppins’s Romney: A Reckoning, in which she’s totally not mad about her dim reelection prospects. “I don’t care. I can go on any board I want to. I can be a college president. I can do anything,” she apparently told Mitt Romney. “I saved the Senate filibuster by myself. I saved the Senate by myself. That’s good enough for me.” She is, sadly, correct about her chances of cashing out. But the idea that she “saved the Senate” raises a rather obvious question: “From what, though—and for who?”

I’m ready for Ruben to replace her and actually have 2 good senators representing Arizona.

Reminder for everyone to register to vote and double check your voter registration. The GOP loves to purge voter records.

Getting rid of her and Manchin in the Democrat party would be oh so very lovely.

[–] caffinatedone 8 points 1 year ago

The difference is that Manchin, for all of his many flaws, is probably the only Democratic senator that we're likely to see from WV in the foreseeable future. So, the option isn't "Manchin or a better Democrat", it "Manchin or a hard right-wing republican". WV is one of the reddest of states and it's almost shocking that a Democrat won there at all and it's easy to understand why he bucks the party.

Sinema has no excuse aside from her seeming delusions of importance and dreams of cushy corporate cash once she's out.

This bitch fucking cunt help the GOP and killed democracy and fucked up part is she 100% correct she will land a a great gig with lots of money and book deals.

When I think about it and how she just straight out says quite part out loud makes my blood boil.

Makes me wonder why do we gets nuts shooting up schools and bowling alley when people like her roam the streets.

She lied to get elected she was an enemy to people of Arizona who elected her and she gets walk away rich.

I hope we all take better care of who we cast our votes too not just anyone with a D by their name.

Voting third party for state and congress is doable and we should start pushing for more of them.

Bernie Sanders is an independent and is in the Senate no reason others can't as well. And Vermont is a red state.

[–] halferect 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Vermont is not a red state, and hasn't been since the early 90s

[–] Fredselfish -5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There governor I heard was Republican.

[–] halferect 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That is true but there state government, senators, congressman, and every presidential election since 92 has gone blue. They are considered a stronghold for the democratic party

By all means, prove Duverger's Law wrong.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I honestly don't think she's smart enough to be that devious. Every article I've read about her suggests she thinks she's the smartest person in the room. At best she's average enough to not have been problematic when she first ran for election.

And this whole "cashing in" she expects, she'll get something. But having her choice of boards to sit on? Please.

I've met some senators. They don't get elected for their intelligence.

I have wondered for ages when the people who chose violence, why didn't they pick appropriate victims? If you're going to be a murderer, why not murder horrible people?

Dude chill with the misogynist language. She's a villain and a coward, but damn there are words of condemnation that don't center her gender.

[–] Cruxifux 3 points 1 year ago

You can take cunt from me when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

Save the senate filibuster by myself

This says more than she was likely meant to

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Everyone knows that voters never shut up about the filibuster. Healthcare? A basic standard of living? Reproductive freedom? No thank you. Just useless procedural bullshit in the Senate please.

She's such a cosplay Senator. Five minutes in the office and she's already high on her own farts.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

She doesn't believe she saved democracy.

She believes it's time to cash out for services rendered, and she knows the system is on her side.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

"I got mine", from the Republican unsure about her stay in Congress. Damn wolf in sheep's clothing.
