We have a roundabout with nothing in the middle. The circle is just painted on and literlly noone goes around it.

Pretty much sums it up to how people do it in North America. Don't get me started on merging.

I find it's no help that the roundabouts that I come across usually don't have a posted speed limit within them (usually 35-40kmh), even when coming in at 60-65kmh. Rumple strips would also help in the pavement to alert drivers to slow down and merge safely.
