I assumed there would be plenty of them but I didn't see any. I may have missed something because I'm so used to Jerboa now I'm struggling with the web app.

So basically, it looks like lemmy.world users can't use jerboa to log in until the instance us updated to v.0.18. Am I right? Does anybody else find themselves unable to login?

Thanks!

The latest version of Jerboa only works with Lemmy v0.18 which is still in pre-release. I'm reading rumours that v0.18 might come out today but I've yet to find any confirmation.

It's kind of weird that they would push the v0.18+ only client before releasing the ui/backend.

Edit: btw it's possible to upgrade and your account will work on v0.17.4 instances. But trying to login from a new jerboa install doesn't work

What eludes me is that I'm seing contradictory reports about the older github versions, like 0.34. Some claim they still work, but I'm having crashes on startup using them, whether I'm trying 0.34, 0.33 or 0.32.

Hmm I was a bit behind and was still on Jerboa v0.33 before I updated today since I get my apk straight from github. But that one worked fine.

It could be that the instances that have issues with older Jerboa versions are already running the Lemmy v0.18 backend. Personally I did not experience any issues just browsing and commenting on lemmy.ml communities which is running v0.18 but that was from my lemmy.world account (thus using the lemmy.world v0.17.4 backend).

This instance will be migrated to v0.18 as soon as possible once it's out.

I'm in the same boat. It just started after I updated last night, so I figured I'd give them a day or two to sort it out. Maybe 0.18 was supposed to be out already but got delayed for some reason. But I'm also missing Jerboa, lol. Isn't funny how quickly someone can adapt to a new system? I've only had Jerboa for almost two weeks now, and I'm already upset when it's unavailable. ๐Ÿคช

I didn't know about this problem, I hadn't yet logged in through Jerboa as I was setting up this account in the first place as Jerboa is still limited especially for searching communities, I've been using another one from lemmy.one and have had no problems there.

Can't downgrade either. Jerboa is useless untill 18.1 releases
