Here is where I am at. Live in an apartment so space is tight and needed everything to be able to move into the closet. I’ve got SNES, N64, Wii mini, Sega Genesis, PS2, a vcr, receiver and stereo speakers, Extron switcher, and playing them all on a Sony PVM14L5. The rack is from Amazon and most are hooked up via RGB.

Nice! It reminds me of teachers bringing in the TV for a class and having the usual fight with channels and inputs for the next 3-5 minutes.

Do you wheel it back to its parking spot when unused?

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

Ha yes I do wheel it back away. When I bring it out for my kids I tell them this is what it was like back in my day!

[–] corky 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Also here is the back side. Still a mess but better than it was in the beginning ha.

I wonder how much time you invested to build this setup

With a setup like this, how much sex do you get?

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Surprising if I say not a lot

[–] corky 3 points 2 years ago

It’s ok I have my games to keep me happy ha

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Getting real "wheeling in the cart for movie day in school" memories, except those were a lot less cool than this is.

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

I tried to make it as cool and nerdy as possible ha

This setup is nice. It's also interesting that I've never heard of Wii mini but I was a PlayStation kid :)

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

It flew under my radar for a long time as well. I got it for a steal.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Cool setup, but just want to call out I'd be careful about ventilation.

Like the speaker on the AVR is probably making it get a bit hotter.

The SNES on top of the VCR may be blocking a bunch of vents.

Not sure the CRT has intake vents on the side but the PS2 flush up against it might not be great.

Just something to watch out for, don't want all that retro equipment dying prematurely!

SICK Extron switch!! I used to install those in media centers and theaters!

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thanks! I got it for a steal and it’s totally overkill but hoping to expand someday!

[–] 8to32characters 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Perfect for the application though! I never thought I'd ever actually see another one of those in the wild.

[–] corky 1 points 2 years ago

Took inspiration from others so I definately cant claim as my idea

[–] rockhstrongo 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I like that it is the biggest thing on the cart.

[–] 8to32characters 1 points 2 years ago

That's a small one! When you start getting into the 32x32's that start growing exponentially.

[–] slug 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

nice, i have one of those carts too and put some hanging canvas organizers on the back to put controllers and stuff in. however, i wouldn't be able to see a thing happening on that monitor without being a couple feet away (like at a desk)- how close do you sit to it??

[–] corky 3 points 2 years ago

I usually do a few different things. Including sitting on the floor with the kids and the tv about 3 or 4 feet away or pull it up next to the couch and play. Eventually I’ll get a bigger one as well but for now it suits my needs and those 800 scan lines look gorgeous lol.

[–] CoolBeance 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That is so dang cool, how do you get games if you're looking for a specific one?

[–] corky 3 points 2 years ago

Lol for me, the key is not have specific games in mind as they’ve gotten so expensive. So I hit up used and retro shops and just see what piques my interest.

I wonder what happens when this rig goes 88 mph.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Very nice! I’m seeing a SNES, N64, VCR, Genesis?, and a vertically stood PS2? Am I missing anything?

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

Also the wii mini!

[–] CMGX78 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I need that setup! Love the cart.

[–] corky 3 points 2 years ago

Appreciate it! It’s a blast to use!

Is N64 Mortal Kombat any good?

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

It probably is but I’m not good at it

Incredibly satisfying setup but the rack is actually my favorite part :)

It looks like a setup that you wave your hands like you’re casting a spell a lot before making a decision

This is amazing. Love it. Cables are managed too.

I think this needs an NSFW tag.

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

😆 appreciate it. It is sexy!

[–] Andvari 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If the cart doesn't have a name already, go with Mario or Crash Team. Nice setup.

[–] corky 2 points 2 years ago

I like Crash Team
