It's me again, hi all.

I received my replacement phone, and it's been nothing but issues since. Android System Intelligence has crashed multiple times, and Bluetooth keeps disabling itself for no discernable reason. I've tried everything short of factory reset (because I'm on a work trip and can't risk losing my MFA apps).

I regret ever purchasing a Google product at this point. Buyer beware.

Also: Google, if you're reading this, do better. I know you won't, though.

I've had a pixel 6 for 18 months with only a few minor issues. Maybe your device is faulty? I'd return it

[–] Sage_the_Lawyer 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Seconding this, I've had mine for two years or so and have had no major issues. Every now and then something will crash, but I've found that to be true on every piece of tech ever. And usually a restart solves any more serious problems (which I've only had to do twice).

The fact that everything misbehaves occasionally terrifies me for things like airplanes and the space shuttle and nuclear weapons.

I have a Pixel 6 and never ran into those issues. It's bizarre that we have the same hardware (and presumably software), yet some folks run into multitudes of problems.

I've owned a Pixel ever since 4 and am currently using a 6. This is a stable platform that keeps it's charge for a long time and has solid performance. Are there improvements that could be made? Sure, the fingerprint reader doesn't work well even if your fingers are just slightly dirty. The swipe from the edge as your "back" button can cause you to go back unintentionally. Overall though, there's no bloatware from carrier or phone maker to contend with the OS. I'm not some fanboy, but am definitely sticking with this line. I think OP got a bad device or is loading something questionable.

Ugh.

A possible bright side - the Pixel 6a was the most stable phone I have owned - after I reinstalled it with GrapheneOS.

Sorry for your frustrations! I've had the P6Pro since launch and been really enjoying it. Beautiful camera and good signal most everywhere I go.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Same here. The P6P is without doubt the best phone I've ever had, I don't recall having any issues with it.

[–] ki77erb 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I can't speak for the P6 but I can tell you the P7 is a fantastic phone from my experience. Really just zero issues since I got it last year.

[–] Asafum 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm glad to hear that, I've been considering getting the P7. I've had the P3 forever and it's still running strong so I don't really NEED the new phone, but the much better hardware has had me interested.

[–] ki77erb 3 points 1 year ago

At this point I would just wait for the P8 this fall. Especially since you're not in a hurry for a new phone.

I guess I'm just unlucky then. My pixel 7 has annoying login issues and the battery will randomly suck some days.

The fingerprint reader is completely non-functional and when I put my pin in, 60% of the time it will take a good 5 to 10 seconds to unlock.

[–] MrFlamey 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Even when the fingerprint reader is working it will ask you for the pin "for additional security" grrr. I think I used to get a 50% success rate with the fingerprint reader, though it does seem a lot better recently for some reason. I didn't change anything, so maybe a software update unfucked it.

[–] Today 2 points 1 year ago

Did your save you primary scanning finger a couple of times? Mine almost always works.

[–] lortikins 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I had some luck redoing my fingerprint scans in a dark closet. Under display fingerprint readers suck in general.

[–] Idreamofcheesy 3 points 1 year ago

I miss my pixel 4 with the scanner on the back. Instant unlock 100% of the time.

[–] ki77erb 2 points 1 year ago

I have heard the complaints about the finger print reader. I personally don't use it so I can't comment on that. I just use a PIN all the time. Smart unlock at home and in my car removes that entirely.

I just can't get over how bad actual cell service is. If my phone isn't on wifi it's basically a brick.

[–] Today 5 points 1 year ago

I'm really sorry you're having such a crappy experience and especially on a work trip. I had a six and liked it. I only got rid of it because I got a good trade-in deal on the 7. The only issues that I've really had with mine are it sometimes disconnects from Android Auto in my husband's car, and in very very bright sunlight it's hard to see the screen. Is it possible that you got a second faulty one?

[–] DonJefe 3 points 1 year ago

Weird. I've had my P6 Pro since launch, and I really haven't had any issues. I do hear some people complaining about issues like that. I guess I got lucky lol

[–] velociroger 3 points 1 year ago

I've been having issues with my P6 modem for months and it's only gotten worse. I can't even watch a youtube vid uninterrupted while sitting next to my router. Glad that other people aren't having problems but I don't think I've ever been more frustrated with a phone's performance

[–] Pillarist 2 points 1 year ago

The Pixel 6 series had its issues due to being the first in the new line featuring the G2 chips, etc so I understand your frustrations. However, the issues you described sound software related and could be caused by the backup you restored when you signed into the new phone. I know, it's inconvenient under the current circumstances but a factory reset would very likely correct these issues, once able to restore only your personal data and redownload & install your apps fresh. It's hard to diagnose an issue without being able to look at the phone so I'm speaking as to what I would try if I was in your situation.

[–] nirodhaavidya 2 points 1 year ago

I there too. I've been struggling with my 6a connectivity for weeks and overheating issues. IDK if it was an update or if it was always this bad. I convinced my roommate and then my wife to upgrade to the Pixel because I've been a fan for years, but now we're all struggling with overheating and connection issues. I feel bad for suggesting it to them. I'm just hoping Google pushes out a fix soon.

[–] lanolinoil 2 points 1 year ago

My 6xl broke physically 3 times in like a month. I never break phones. There's probably a reason they did the 6 trade in with such good terms when the 7 came out...

[–] jacktherippah 2 points 1 year ago

The P6 Pro is the best phone I've ever had except for battery and charging.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sounds like you got a lemon, never had an issue on mine.

[–] Finnagain 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, sucks to have two in a row. I think the likelihood is a little low that I "won" the lottery twice. But statistics are weird. Either way, replaced it with a Fold 4 and love the new device.

Google not even acknowledging it's 911 dialer bug on the Pixel finally pushed me to an iPhone SE

[–] notExactlyI20 1 points 1 year ago

If it isn't bootloader blocked, you can try flash grapheneOS into it.

[–] specseaweed 1 points 1 year ago

The P6 is what pushed my brother to Apple after a lifetime of Android. I'm on Sammy now because of the 6 and I don't love it.

Seriously considering Oneplus next time.

[–] STUPIDVIPGUY 1 points 1 year ago

oneplus 7t. trust me

[–] dexchemist 1 points 1 year ago

Mine kept shutting down if it was at 50% battery or below. I'm assuming an update fixed the issue because it just stopped being a pain in the ass one day. Not my favorite phone but it hasn't been terrible either.
