Both parties suck. Both are corporate slaves, but one just happens to be openly pro-Nazi.

I've seen plenty of folks criticize dems without getting downvoted.

I do agree that democrats are not scared cows? Maybe scared, but not cows.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 days ago

Typo, I meant sacred cows*

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 days ago

What are you talking about? Every other comment is “the Democrats will do nothing because they are spineless.”

I commented on this post @ https://lemmy.ml/post/26567894

I said...

"Democrats suck and are ineffectual at accomplishing their (generally decent) goals.

Republicans are trying to turn the US into a dictatorship. I hope this was a hyperbolic statment, but it seems like this is where we are now.

Why can't we be critical of democrats by being selective in the primaries? I think that a protest vote for an independent candidate, especially if you were in a swing state, has proven to have been a very poor choice.

Edit: To add to my initial point, I think that we are seing a lot of post-hoc rationalization from non-voters and protest voters.

You would have to be crazy to prefer the outcome that we got over having Kamala, and if you contributed to our current situation **** you."

After being the most upvoted comment on this post there for almost 24 hours, my comment was removed by moderators.

Demotivating people left of center is the last thing that we need for the next 2 years, we need to reform the DNC, and let them know what we want.

I just went through the modlog to see which comment was removed any why, and seeing your comment just reinforces my impression that posting anything on lemmy isn't worth it. Your comment was obviously removed because somebody disagreed with you, not because you disrespected anybody participating in the discussion (rule 2).

[–] whoxtank28 3 points 4 days ago

To be fair, that is lemmy.ml. I think it is probably related to the reason that this post gained no traction here, and has many upvotes there...

[–] whoxtank28 1 points 4 days ago

Also, I find it funny that this post has been allowed to remain on this instance, even though it portrays an idea that is not popular here. Democracy determined the fitness of this post in the marketplace of ideas, and found it lacking.

My comment on this post at .ml was removed for being unpopular with the mods, though not entirely unpopular with the people. Authoritarian rule determined that my comment was not allowed in the marketplace of ideas...curious...

Republicans are a known quantity. They are evil corrupt oxygen thieves. Each one a tragic waste of functioning organs.

That is what they are. That is all you should expect from them.

The Democrats are supposed to be better. They claim to be better. They talk mad shit when it suits them. But when they're in power they always do the bare minimum of not being quite as snake-fuckingly crazy as the Republicans. (Apparently they're cool with genocide now tho so.....🤪)

But they do little to actually help. And when they're bullied into it it comes with reams of administrative bloat that ruins it. Fucking means testing and razor thin scopes.

9/10ths of the job of a DNC member in good standing is maintaining the status quo. Which sucks. So they lose elections and shit gets worse under repubs. They win and restabilize the status quo to the new shittier standard set by the Rs. The other 1/10th is stopping anyone with ideas left of Reagan from getting any power.

And that's why the Democrats rightfully get the smoke. They're supposed to be better than they are. More is expected of them and they refuse to live up to it. The reasons are myriad. Corruption, adherence to norms, etc.

Labels confuse people.

Ask me about the DNC and more than a month ago I'd say they were a giant piece of shit.

Now they have a new chair and new direction. I'd be an idiot to blame Ken Martin for Hakeem Jeffries bullshit.

Like, are you complaining about voters, party leadership, the ones holding office...

You're gonna get downvoted because you're just being vague.

Edit:

OP is from .ml but choose to enable the setting that hides it...

There's not going to be any deeper rational or criticisms made here.

The worst part about instance blocking is that you still see their posts to other communities.

[–] xenomor 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I’m perfectly willing to blame voters, leaders and elected officials for the awfulness of the Democratic Party. There’s been a collective effort to not stand on principles, not try to inspire the electorate, and not hold officials accountable. These reasons, along with the addiction to billionaire and corporate sponsorship are why the party never accomplishes much and is constantly yanked further right by their fascist opponents.

[–] givesomefucks -2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I criticize all those groups...

With specific criticisms.

OPs post is basically:

I'll get downvited for it, but Democrats suck!

Which is why I clarified if you have valid criticisms you won't.

OP has no valid criticisms or is at least unwilling to share them and choose instead to make this post.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

Precisely! And metadiscussions about voting will always get downvoted because they're boring.

[–] TokenBoomer 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Labels confuse people.

Proceeds to label people by instance.

[–] givesomefucks -5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

by instance.

Yep.

If there was an instance full of Nazis would your position be consistent?

Mine would be...

[–] givesomefucks 0 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Welp, that answers my question on if it's worth blocking you.

Been real man, but I have no interest in someone that sits at the same table as nazis.

Where I come from when people choose those types of associations, everyone at the table is the same.

[–] TokenBoomer -1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Bye. Good luck finding Nazis on here. I’m not gonna block BeeHaw because of a bad interaction with an individual.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

No, I am talking about the party itself. All of its members are meticulously filtered for loyalty to the ruling class instead of to the people. They pretend to be better than Republicans, but they are not. All that they care about is being the friendly face of capitalism while they keep increasing the funding for the police and sending trillions of dollars for war abroad. They only exist for control opposition against actual leftist movements and to keep the USA trapped in 2 right wings party oligopoly

[–] givesomefucks -5 points 6 days ago

No, I am talking about the party itself. All of its members

What?

So are you complaining about the voting members whose only action is voting for a chair after Republicans win the election?

You know that's literally all they do and they just made a huge pivot right...

Right.

Because then in the rest of the candidate you act like you're talking about regular voting public? If so what power do you think they have?

I still can't tell who you're blaming besides "Democrats".

I've done my fair share of complaining about specific parts of the party, because of that I understand it

You just seem upset, opinionated and...

Well, that's it's so for.
