I usually hang rugs on a clothesline and blast them with a hose sprayer. Old mud stains may require scrubbing and a detergent.

I'll add I've had good luck with even dollar store brand spot cleaner first.
Let it soak for a while, then blast the daylights out of it.
Well that's pretty restrictive.
What I'd do: throw it in the bath with some clothes washing powder/liquid for a good soak and keep doing that until the water is clear enough to see the bottom of the bath.
Or buy a new one.
Assuming that this is a similar rug to the one you have, the website only says it can be "spot cleaned with water". Seems like it's designed in such a way that it has to be replaced eventually. I'd say if she absolutely has to keep this one just soak it in warm water with a very small amount of gentle detergent? Then just hang it up to dry for a day or two
You could check the website from Jysk. I only found the swiss one when searching for this rug. But there it says you can use water, brush and soap.
Easy. A firm plastic bristles brush upholstery cleaner or just some tide and water oxy clean type works best. Spray spot let soak. Scrub the spot. Use vacuum to suck up the liquid. Repeat a couple of times until stain is gone.
