RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Better and better. I have finalised things so that I can move from my beautiful apartment (in a bad area) to a much quieter house further out of the city. I’ve mostly just been working and staying in hermit mode until I move. This area has caused me a great deal of stress due to lots of shitty people being around the building day and night. I don’t go anywhere currently by foot because I’m so concerned with my safety and just the other day somebody decided to buzz in 2 masked individuals that then ran inside and stole everyone’s deliveries from the lobby. It’s bad enough navigating some of the obstacles around the area without dumbasses letting anyone in the building because they are too lazy to check who they actually are. It was always pretty bad around here but there is a certain group of individuals that hang out around the outside that I am particularly worried about. In August I confronted one of them because he was traumatising a homeless lady that was just trying to sleep in a doorway, he was high so I just walked away after he left her alone but his friend saw which building I entered and they waited outside until midday (about 5 hours later) then they tried to follow me but I stopped and let them know that I knew and they backed off. After months of constantly seeing them around I have moved on from it but I am still cautious around the outside of the building. People like that are opportunists and predatory in their nature so it’s best not to get caught off guard, unfortunately it’s stressful, so I’m moving. /rant

I hate to be a bummer, so if that's not something you want to read about, skip over this one.

My week has been rough.

My sweet budgie is starting to show her age. On Sunday, I ended up taking her to the emergency avian vet almost 2 hours away because she was straining to poop and not eating very much. After a rough 5 hour wait, the vet told me that she had high levels of bacteria in her crop and blood in her stool. Luckily, the bacteria can be handled with antibiotics and the blood in her stool is likely from ulcerations caused by straining, which can heal given time and two other meds. The downside is that, until the 19th, she has to be fed her drugs 5 separate times a day. This involves grabbing her with a towel, and using a syringe to spray the drugs in her mouth as she tries to bite it. Obviously, this greatly stresses her and she really hates it. After the 19th, this luckily will get reduced to 2x a day until we see the vet again.

I just hope I'm doing the right thing. She's such a good bird and deserves to feel comfortable in her senior years. I'm super attached to her, more than I realized. It's going to be hard when her time comes.

Just learned my health insurance is undergoing medical review which is probably bad. Didn't learn from them, no. One of my doctors trying to get approval learned. Fucking jooooy. I'm guessing it's dealing with my dentist office being Really Bad At Their Jobs.

I'm tired. I just want better teeth and Healthcare.

Quickly enough to be mildly terrifying, but not quickly enough to be Saturday already. I guess this means it’s just fine on average.
