There’s only one way ever that has worked to end fascism, authoritarianism, or a tyrant’s power. Only one.

The time to stop it was a few months ago. Make exit plans.

As if you can hide from a fascist America.

I decided in 2021 that I would leave the country if he was reelected. Even took a phone interview in my chosen location. But I got into a relationship since 2021, moved in together in an amazing place, changed jobs to one that’s incredibly low demand. I announced to my partner that I’m staying only on Monday.

You can go. I don’t think we need your energy in these threads.

I don’t know what I can personally do to make effective change, but what I have done since the inauguration is to let my close friends know I’m there for them since I can’t be the only one who feels defeated.

In the past I’ve hung hundreds fliers in the street for other causes, and I might do that again. It’s old school, gets people attention, and gets me out into the street and maybe interact with people.

Any ideas for an eye-catching poster? I was thinking “OUR DEMOCRACY IS DYING, WHAT CAN WE DO?”

  1. develop community alliances
  2. establish encrypted communications
  3. buy guns and train

I suggest more radical slogans, like "Eat the rich", "Free Luigi" or "Shoot your local fascist".

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 hours ago

Democracy isn't dying. It's actively being taken apart.

Nader is the first I've read who says what I've been thinking: when does the killing begin?

That will seem like an extreme statement to some, but a campaign of terror is absolutely coming.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Not extreme at all. Fucking Trumpies stormed the capitol over conspiracy theories - why aren't we doing the same for our rights and freedoms?

Guillotine the motherfuckers.

Because since we believe in reality, and we're not in a cult, it's a lot harder to get us organized for anything.

It's why cults are so fucking dangerous in a democracy. How do you even fight people who refuse to compromise or accept reality?

I mean, how many COVID deniers denied it up to their literal last breath? Plenty.

We have skepticism and stepping back for self-reflection and considering other options. They have what their God Trump tells them, and that's it.

[–] dustyb0tt0mz 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

the reality IS that they will come for you if you don't strike first. you people need to understand how wars work.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Hey, lots of us understand, that doesn't make it any easier to organize other people.

[–] dustyb0tt0mz 2 points 5 hours ago

i guess we just have to keep saying it does. if you were trying to prepare, you'd want to start telling people now. it has to be an inescapable message in social media.

[–] [email protected] 52 points 20 hours ago

Technically the killing has already begun, but the deaths probably are incidental to Musk randomly turning off shit.

That's still structural murder.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer 5 points 19 hours ago

I mean, it either starts because nobody in power is listening or because people have already been stripped of what they're afraid to lose.

[–] jimmy90 2 points 16 hours ago

what kind of terror?

[–] [email protected] 31 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (3 children)

Musk’s poisoned Tusks have even reached Laos, Cambodia, and parts of Vietnam where mine-clearing efforts have been cut off.

Did... Did Ralph Nader just pull a fucking Rick & Morty reference? He was "Elon Tusk" on his appearance on the show.

We live in the most fucking bonkers ass timeline.

Who writes this reality, Bobcat Goldwaith?

[–] ripcord 4 points 14 hours ago

No, he didn't.

[–] Kyrgizion 8 points 18 hours ago

Reality jumped the shark in 2012. Everything that happened after that is just the ones running the simulation seeing how far they can stretch things before it all goes topsy-turvy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 19 hours ago

Love bobcat! Meat Bob is a classic!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 17 hours ago

Well written. This is so mad
