If their support of cryptobro social network Nostr wasn’t a huge red flag, Mullenweg’s stamp of approval surely is

Who's mullenweg and why is his stamp of approval bad?
Edit: this article from someone else in the thread answers my question https://digitalcxo.com/article/matt-mullenweg-automattics-ceo-seems-bound-and-determined-to-wreck-wordpress/
What's up with nostr anyway? Does any one use it for anything but crypto right now? I downloaded vibe and I guess I made a nostr account?
VC-backed = Ignored.
Not available outside of 1st party app stores either.
All fedi network = Mastodon, Threads, BlueSky, Nostr
Because, lemmy, misskey, pixelfed, mbin, friendica etc are not part of fedi network
After everything Matt has been doing in the last months, I'm totally not excited to see anything he backs or pushes.
I had no idea, damn I never thought I'd see such a timeless project fall like this.
For the unaware (like me) here's an article summing up Matt Mullenweg's situation https://digitalcxo.com/article/matt-mullenweg-automattics-ceo-seems-bound-and-determined-to-wreck-wordpress/
Thank you, I appreciate the context
Is this just centralized decentralized internet?
I'm not going all in on the concept until we have a centralised decentralised centralised internet.
That’s how I see it. Some tech bro shitheads are trying to profit off the generous, free work of others. That kind of parasitic mentality is the last thing the Fediverse needs.
Who cares what automattic does now? CEO made his own brand cancer.
Why is it always about twitter-like apps? There are plenty of people who don't give a f about microblogging
Because the influencer market knows how to leverage microblogs to generate an income.
I asked on bsky about Lemmy and PixelFed, both are on OpenVibe’s radar. Whatever that means.
It means they don’t plan to add support but don’t want to tell you that so it’s “on the radar”.
Wouldn’t hold my breath or expect anything.
How do they want to recoup their investment?
Ads probably
At the bottom it says they may go for subscriptions.
🤣 Here! All your favorite fediverse's free social platforms! Conveniently squeezed together in this amazing App!!!
... all for only $$ /month (Ads included)
How cynical - they'll offer an ad free subscription, probably a premium one, as opposed to the basic level where you still see a few (just enough to annoy you into upgrading).
