I met Elijah Wood at a convention several years ago. He was doing a signing booth, and I showed up extra early to be first in line. It was only the second day of the convention.

The handler at the front was trying to hype him up, telling us he was very kind and always made sure to be on time for his fans.

He ended up being over half an hour late and didn't have an excuse. Just told the handler he just didn't get ready on time this morning. He then proceeded to wordlessly sign headshots and hand them out, not even looking at anyone in line. I was excited to meet him in person, but he just wasn't interested in talking to anyone.

I get that he's human. He may be going through something, or maybe he just was having a bad day. But I was kind of disappointed that I spent a lot of money just to be handed a signed headshot and quickly shooed out of the line.

At the same convention, David Tenant showed up, and not only did he have a seminar where he talked about his upcoming roles (the whole audience sang the DuckTales theme to him, as he was about to play Scrooge McDuck in the rebooted series), but he did action poses for photos with every fan who visited him at his signing booth and even chatted them up a bit. His handler had to keep reminding him to keep the line moving, because he would chat your ear off forever; everything fascinated him and he was so excited for each person he met! It was a fantastic experience.

I had an opportunity to meet Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart performing in New York once, but my wife dragged us away at the last minute because our schedule was booked solid that day. It's one of my greatest regrets, as I heard it was a small showing and they even sat with the audience and BS'd for a while after the show. I would totally vibe with both of those guys, especially together.

Now we need him more than ever. :(

I have heard that Orlando Bloom is a bad husband but not much beyond that.

I saw Sir Ian McKellen at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
