Growing up these donuts were a new year's tradition. I hadn't had them for decades, so I decided to learn how to make them. They're super easy to make and super delicious. It's a fried donut with a wonderfully crispy outer shell and a soft pillowy interior. They're traditionally topped with warm honey, cinnamon, and chopped walnut (I also toasted the walnuts).

It's so weird that you made those, because I eat those. I feel like we can come to an arrangement.

On our first time visiting an actual authentic Greek restaurant, the owner gave us I believe this dish as free dessert. It was good, and I appreciated the gesture. They probably just assumed it was our first time because we were asking a lot of questions when ordering lol.

A small free dessert is pretty common at restaurants in Greece.

That's wonderful!

I am now annoyed that my Greek family have not introduced me to these. They look delicious.

Looks tasty! Are pecans (or maybe almonds) ever used instead of walnuts?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I've used pecans and almonds in the past. Chocolate or other sauces are sometimes used as an accompaniment instead of the honey and nuts. Honestly, it's a free for all when it comes to toppings.

Why is everything in the greek kitchen stolen from the turkish kitchen?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

They’re very close to eachother and people have been living there a really long time.

You steal our women and we steal your donuts?
