Yeah but they still charged for the "upgrade". A lot of gaming companies give you the PS5 version of a game for free if you already own the PS4 version.

Turkey. I had to flee the country since I was part of the military, but whatever they're doing now is very similar to what happened there. Erdoğan has been in power since basically 2002 (and still going).
They replace the media with their followers. They replace the government with their followers. They blame minorities for all the problems and they wage war on them. They falsely claim the economy will get better (although everyone sees it's not getting any better). Then they change the constitution to allow the current power to stay in power for longer.
Everything I mentioned above is currently happening. After a while the power consolidates so much at the top that nobody can do anything about it.
That's what you would think. Like hungry people would protest or take action. But that's not how it plays out. When everyone is so busy with getting by and staying alive, nobody cares about any atrocities committed by the higher ups. I've seen many countries where the people simply ignore the craziest things their governments say or do.
Remember, they released GTAV with 30FPS first to PS5 , then they sold an upgraded PS5 version @60FPS for an additional $10 (which is free on most games).

You can't. Ride the wave. If the market tumbles, everyone will suffer. Which is most likely what they want anyway, because a hungry population is much more easier to control.
This is a very basic authoritarianism playbook. I've watched my home country fall in a similar fashion. Just be mentally ready.
They just slapped an LLM which tried to replace Google Assistant where the said LLM could not even do the most basic functions like setting up an alarm.
