Not bad, way better than I expected.

Not bad? I'm no fan of T Pain, and kind of so-so with Sabbath - but this was a great cover version. Amazing musicians really milking that tune for all its worth.

It is a great cover, but it is missing one essential element…

The intro is slow and sparse to give room for the bass to walk. Despite the amazing vocals and great guitar tone and solos, it felt a little flat without the movement in the bass line.

You have to understand I have very high standards, it's a childhood thing.... I am not a happy person....

I am not a fan of the original war pigs. I thought this was great.

The whole auto tune thing is baffling because he can really sing his ass off.

It makes sense when you consider that it's an artistic choice and not one of necessity. He presumably likes the very overtly autotuned sound for one reason or another.

If you only autotune a little bit, it's quite difficult to impossible to tell that it's been used by ear alone. In order to get his signature autotune sound, you need to make it shift the input by a significant amount, so to get the correct note on the output that means you need to sing intentionally high or low of the intended output by some amount (you can probably change the tone by varying how far off you sing from the intended output).

Yeah, autotune is pitch controlled distortion. It turns the ability to control pitch, vibrato, melisma into something like controlling an effects pedal on an electric guitar.

This album is worth a look. I had a great time with it.

Didn't even know it existed until today. Was never a fan of his until I saw him on TinyDesk and found out he's just got a great voice and is a music nerd. Solid performance.

Tiny Desk is great. I recommend Raye's concert if you haven't seen it. Erykah Badu's was good too

Went ahead and watched the entire show—it was a really entertaining performance.

Really? Ozzy Osbourne said it was the best cover he's ever heard...

Damn really? I listened too it the other day and I loved it. As a life long sabbath fan it was really well done imo. Tpain is a solid dude with lots of talent, glad to see him doing well. And glad to hear he got ozzys blessing.
