I can do 40+ degree heat without "breaking a sweat" so to speak, but this is fucking awful.

I just walked out to the bin and almost died.

My mulch delivery is on it's way, just carting a few of those bales to the back yard it likely to kill me.

Upon reflection, chit-chat is maybe not my preferred option. Especially when 'chat' is a euphemism for a flea. As in riding 'flat chat', which means galloping fast while holding your body so close to your horse's neck that the fleas get squashed between. And chat potatoes, which refers to spuds so small as to resemble fleas. Chit-chat means small talk. Very small talk. Not my preference. The DT does more than that.

Maybe 'Daily Ramblings'???

Or just leave it as Daily Discussion Thread - which is accurate and not demeaning. And we're all accustomed to it.

Was up very late/early this morn. About 5am a brand new white van screamed down the street, stopped in front of the neighbours place (they have 2 very nice cars), dude jumps out with a torch takes a quick squizz at their front gate / door, jumps back in van and hoons away.

Their place (or cars) is totally getting cased. Absolutely targeted.

That's why I'd never buy really expensive cars.

This is the neighbour who has buggered my shed wall and currently in dispute.

Should probably tell 'em they're potentially about to get done and do the neighbourly thing. Might make them reconsider their position on the wall heh. Thinking about it.

Hrmm..

I regret to inform you that I died of hot while gardening today.

I am attempting a resurrection ritual involving cold grapes and air conditioning.

Edit: the grapes revived me enough to make pita bread pizza which completed the job. I believe I am now officially alive again.

Just home from shopping and I am always in amazement how people can wear all black and make it their own.

I wore faded black jeans and a black cheesecloth top

I saw black shorts and linen top

linen pants and singlet

cargo pants and big tshirt

pencil skirt and short top

goth pants and top

loose short dress

yoga pants and top

long frilly skirt and blouse

etc etc

I opened up a fixed term deposit account today. My options were fairly limited because of my age and the balance I had on hand, but I looked around, and am pretty sure I found the best interest rate I could, at least for now. At this scale, any extra interest I could get elsewhere if I were over 18 works out to be like 2 bucks anyways lol. Mostly in it for a safe place to keep my money away from my stupid reckless impulsivity anyways πŸ˜‚

Peaceful night at home tonight.

Had a really, really good music session last night I'm hoping to repeat. The type where you don't record anything because you're playing just for yourself.

Will practice a few of the new songs so I can play another show before Xmas.

Got a band audition tomorrow which is exciting. A friend from tassie is in town so we'll catch up tomorrow.

Social calendar is starting to get busy which is nice :)

Oh and I bought this because fuck it why not

If anyone is looking for a decent train simulator, I highly recommend Derail Valley. IMO it's so much better than TSW/the rest of the Dovetail Games BS they put out. It's not based on or specifically modelling any particular route or even country. But it's by a small indie team in Serbia who've done a remarkable job, unlike DTG who are basically EA if EA only made train sims (buggy, poorly optimised garbage, with every single thing being locked behind expensive DLC, not even taking into account the games are like 80 bucks)

/rant

It's an amazing game though. Apparently it is loosely based on Yugoslavian/Balkan railways in the 80s/90s, but takes design elements from everywhere. It's also a lot more featured than TS/TSW. You can buy trinkets to modify your train (which requires you to drill/solder things), or you can take it stock. You also get to buy licenses for different types of cargo. And I've just discovered it has radios/boomboxes. You can buy cassettes from little shops around the map, or just listen to the radio (which i don't believe is themed, because it was playing me Avicii music. But also Tina Turner and Nelly Furtado)

Oh, also, you can blow things up

Ok, apparently the flowers kind of have to be stimulated in ways that make them think bees are visiting to encourage pollen production. So from time to time I might gently tap the stems to shake them a little. You can also put a male flower in the fridge for a day or a few days to hold it until a female one opens.

I’m going to be trying to hit and run this bare patch of earth guerilla gardening style to avoid any hassles. (The dirt is mine to plant but people here are cray so I avoid being out there much.) But there’s another snag… there’s a seriously inappropriately placed invasive tree that releases irritants and the roots of that have grown through into my area.

So not only does it cause other issues it will obstruct and take all the water and nutrients from anything I plant on my own spot. (Arguably the spot where the tree is planted is mine too as it was offered to me - but I didn’t want to be out there in a certain vicinity.)

And as a bonus, existing flowering native plants were torn out to plant that and other bad crap.

Hence why I’m trying to plant pollinator crack now which still isn’t as good as what was ruined. One of the idiots here ripped out at least one full grown flowering grevillea.

Make sure you say "buzz buzz buzz" and do a little bee dance while you're pollinating, that should do it.

I think my favourite thing about city life is the relative lack of flies. Everytime I go to the country, I am reminded how everywhere you go there's always like 10 thousand fucking flies everywhere and I'm like "how did I deal with that for a decade"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I've been successfully procrastinating by doing a further review of my income & life insurance. I think I've got a mix of three different policies that will cover my future needs pretty well. There is a bit of an overlap in the middle where I'm probably a touch over insured, so just putting it out there for the universe that if you plan to strike me down with a permanent work-ending disability at some point, four or five years from now would be the best time to schedule that.

Cat is sitting and watching out of the back-door. House is hot and humid.

Do I close the back-door and turn on the air con, or keep it open and deal with the sweating?
