This shit right here. So infuriating! I too have incredibly sensitive skin and it is so hard to find stuff that is fragrance free and doesn't cause my skin to just get angry with me. I feel your pain!
rant
I've always liked the idea of corporations having to send a sample to "patent" their products before selling as part of checking the product.
If a company wants to change, repeat with the new product that would require new product packaging that's obviously different.
Like, food from a restaurant is different, but a packaged product should be consistent within a very small margin of change
Not even a "New and Improved"? That's shitty marketing...
Fucking perfumes. I had to stop buying Irish Spring after using it since I was a kid because now they add so much goddamn scent to it, it makes my eyes burn in the shower.
Did the old version contain carcinogenic benzene? My brand did, and I had to wait for the class action notice in the mail.
Benzene is bad stuff. It's in jet fuel, and the illness you get from it will make you waste away painfully. In addition to leukemia and cancer, it can get in your bone marrow and severely reduce production of red blood cells.
I work with a bunch of fairly toxic chemicals (work in aircraft maintenance), and I always tell new people "Don't fuck with benzene and don't fuck with chromate. Chromate will give you cancer and give your future kids deformities, benzene will make you die badly."
My father-in-law died of the disease usually caused by chronic benzene exposure, and it took him 5 years to die. I would have eaten a bullet (or taken a TON of morphine) after the first 6 months. Don't fuck with benzene.
Oh, wow. $10/ea or 3.65M total. I bet they're suitably chastened.
fortunately no, that's kinda scary though
or if it did, it's not included in the ingredients lists
Maybe, if ordered online, one of those frauds that copy the label but have different manufacturing? Then those get mixed up with the real product?
nah I always buy it at walmart, in store
That's never stopped fake products from reaching legit store shelves before. There's been numerous instances where Walmart had fake memory cards on their shelves, with all the official looking logos and packaging, and they didn't even know it.
In those cases, it might be a fake SanDisk MicroSD card labeled as a 512GB, when really it's only a 256GB, but reflashed to trick the system into seeing it as a 512GB. Which is really bad once you've stored over 256GB on it, it starts overwriting existing data and corrupting everything.
Walmart doesn't manufacture the products, they just stock them and sell them. Even the great giant Walmart isn't immune to being conned by fake products. And just to think of all the wide variety of products they stock and sell, what really are the chances every single product is genuine?.. 🤔
You didn't check the ingredients?
The ingredients lists on the old and new cans are identical with the fragrance being labeled simply as "fragrance" because they aren't legally obligated to specify what they used in it.
If someone uses the same brand for years without issue and then out of the blue they change formula with no obvious indicator, why would they be checking the ingredients? Do you check the ingredients each and every time you make a routine purchase?
If there was a long time between purchases I would absolutely do that. I've got people I care about with food allergies so that's been a prudent strategy for me. Brands change shit all the time. Most people with allergies do that too
