Huh.

She didn't simply threaten to have him killed - she said that she had arranged to have him killed if he had her killed.

So it's only really a "threat" if he intends to have her killed.

So essentially, Bongbong is admitting that he intends to have her killed.

I am not from the Philippines and am not taking sides here, but if someone taked about killing me (even hypothetically) iI would find it a bit threatening too.

Especially if that someone was very specific about it. Like, not shouting angrily "I'll kill you!" but describing a plan to send a hitman after me.

Again though it wasn't just a threat - it was a very specific if/then statement - "I've arranged it so that if he has me killed, he will be killed."

Granted that it's a bit unsettling, my immediate response, and IMO the likely immediate response of virtually anyone and everyone, would be "But I don't intend to have you killed."

Yes, I get your point and I agree that Marcos lost the chance to try and de-escalate things.

The thing is that these are not two random people fighting in a bar. They both have large, very powerful clans and millions of supporters each. If they start talking about who is going to kill whom first, that's playing a very dangerous game and they both should feel the responsibility to keep things civil. Not for them but for the People who elected them

...if you tried to murder them. I feel like you're omitting the most important part.

Nervous laughter as a vulnerable minority in the US

Such privilege to think your life in America is anywhere near as hard as those living in the global south lol

Two things can be true. Three, if we include you being unnecessarily rude.

Idk, come January, I'd be pretty okay with the president and vice president trying to kill each other.

[–] Kaput 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's what season 4 of the boys is about. Who's third for power grab?

[–] mercano 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Speaker of the House, currently Johnson, but they’re required to go through the election process when the new House sits in January, and we’ve seen how drawn out they can get.

I want a rematch between space laser Blondie and theatre sex fiend. No reason for the train wreck not to be entertaining. It would also insure the presidency remain in crazy hands no matter what happen.

I seem to have lost the plot of this post. Phillipines are again giving USA a run for their money on the crazy scale.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah but the vice president is daughter of Rodrigo Duterte, a man who is best known for extrajudicial killings in a “war on drugs” and he didn’t even like that his daughter was running.

Oh and the president is the son of Ferdinand Marcos. His family hated by so many.

I'm crossing everything except the streams that you're right about Netanyahu! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

[–] Glytch 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Let me try: the US will send special forces into whichever country arrests Netanyahu to break him out

genuinely hope I'm wrong but as a US ally he's covered under the Hague Invasion Act of 2002

[–] Viking_Hippie 1 points 1 day ago

Nah, that law is just an empty threat.

Not even the TRUMP administration would be stupid enough to invade an ally for the sake of one* septuagenarian war criminal from another country.

Even if that country is Israel.

*as he's no longer part of the government, Gallant might as well not exist anymore as far as they're concerned.

It reminds me of Jim Bell.

what's going on in my country, is we either handed over the reigns to a fascist completely unable and incapable of keeping us or our allies safe, or our elections were thouroughly hacked by russia installing their puppet to allow them eastern european hegemony at the end of tanks and nukes, so, yeah, what's going on in my country is not only ordinates worse than this, it affects every living being on the planet in such disasterous negativity, 12 months from now entire soverign nations will cease to exist

[–] Dragomus 1 points 1 day ago

Regardless, things do not look good internationally, countries will be swept away and their history wiped so they fit in the ruling communist empire, be it Ukraine, Eastern Europe, or Taiwan and South Korea...

As a sidenote, isn't it interesting that China is relocating its productive industry from the coastal areas to far into central China? What oh what could be a hidden reason behind such an expensive move...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I suppose that is a possibility.
