Be interesting, do cool things and invite someone in to join you. Thats damn solid advice.

People often think their hobbies are boring or to niche and think that no one will care about them. But passion is infectious and by sharing things you think are interesting you will eventually find someone who wants to share it with you.

As long as it's not fishing haha

You will enjoy fishing a lot more if the company is good, and the beer is cold.

I like fishing, I just think it's quite unpopular with women.

Because of the implication

What's the implication? Am I naïve? I just thought it was traditionally a man's hobby with little interest from women, just as most men mostly aren't very interested in crochet.

I think it's a The Office reference.

It is a It's always sunny in Philadelphia reference: The Gang Buys a Boat / Wikipedia.org

Oh OK. I've never watched it so that's why I didn't understand.

I see a surprising number of women standing on a boat holding a fish in their Tinder profiles.

Maybe it's different in your area. Where I live the local fishing spot is nearly all men.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah, totally. That's why I said it was surprising.

Cold weather fishing alone with an audio book is the best experience. Now how do I invite someone to that...

Buy an extra rod and a headphone splitter :p

Taking dating advice from a divorce attorney seems like taking swimming lessons from a shark. Maybe he has good points but I can't help but wonder about his intentions...

[–] Fosheze 33 points 1 month ago

At the same time though, he sees where people have routinely fucked up. He sees exactly what critical incompatibilities get missed until it leads to a divorce.

I'd say it's more like an ER doctor teaching people how to use a chainsaw. They may not necissarily know what to do, but the sure as hell know what not to do.

That's a great step in the right direction.
