Wikipedia says that the telecoms company Tiscali* got its name from this place.

* now Tessellis, apparently

Like the bold text at the top of the image that says “The Nuraghic Village of Tiscali”? Who evidently seems to have a typo since everywhere else I’m seeing it’s spelled ‘Nuragic’. Thanks for the post op.

What's the point of building roofs against rain, when there is already a roof overhead?

A covered space is easier to keep warm. Also the crater hole might well have let in rain that could be blown around by wind.
