X is still losing users in Europe, while it’s also, apparently, losing moderators as well, according to its latest EU transparency report.

If you’re still on Twitter by now, you’re actively part of the problem

I think of this anytime I see some alleged leftist on Twitter talking about anything as if they were paragons of ethics and morality. It might be a bit of cynicism on my part, but I can't take it seriously whenever someone can't take a hint that maybe they shouldn't be in a platform owned by a Billionaire that makes a point in basing his personality on the fact that he is an imperialist bigot. I wish Twitter had stayed banned in my country...

How can you see what anyone writes on the platform if you're not on it? Wouldn't that by definition mean that you still use it yourself too?

[–] alphabethunter 5 points 1 month ago

Because a lot of times other people will share things whenever there's enough controversy? Often things will also show up on the news? Not that uncommon for things on twitter to show up outside twitter?

Soooooo, like do you design artistic looking wheelchairs? Or do you lay down a big white tarp, roll the wheels through paint, and then roll on the tarp making a painting?

Either way, I've never even THOUGHT that could be a thing, but it seems so cool.

My screen says WheelchairArtist. What am I missing?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know what the actual terminology here is. The display name is "WheelchairArtist" but the underlying account name - the one that shows up in the URL if you go to their profile - is missing the i. I have no idea if that's a typo on account creation or something intentional.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Weird, the display name in my Lemmy client doesn't have the i, which is why I made the comment.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not all instances/clients show those display names. I'm on kbin.earth and it doesn't, I just see the underlying account name. It sounds like you're seeing the same. But if I go look at Wheelchar's profile on lemmy.world, which is their instance, it shows both "WheelchairArtist" and "@WheelcharArtist"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Must be a typo in the account name, which is what I'm seeing then.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Huh, thats weird. My client says wheelchar 🤷‍♂️

[–] ripcord 2 points 1 month ago

Weird, on Jerboa I see wheelchair and don't see "Wheelchair" anywhere.

I’d like to think it’s because they’re taking a stand but they have to be even more sick of seeing weird American incels talk about US elections than we are in the U.S. Not to mention vote scolds who assume the entire internet is American.

“I don’t care about the election.”

“Vote! It’s important!”

“Motherfucker, I live in Antwerp! Shut up! Just shut up!”

Trump winning would be bad for the entire world. But I can't do anything about it, so I'm sick of hearing about it.

It’s going to converge with Truth Social eventually and at some point they will just merge.

[–] filister 7 points 1 month ago

Isn't this an uplifting news?

[–] Evotech 6 points 1 month ago

Especially official instances are leaving. In Norway the police (who has been using Twitter to inform about current investigations since 2011) has recently created their own platform and left twitter. That's all precincts, not just a social media head office thing.

Stopped using twitter because it kept logging me out and thinking im doing some malicious shit for...doing normal twitter things
if it werent for my gf being still on it and you needing an account to actually see everything (that my gf may or may not do) i would nuke the fuck out of it

Are they not separating bot logins from human logins ? I did not see a breakdown for that. I’m wondering if anyone knows
