This level of weird obsession can't be good for your health. It's bordering on pathological.
And no, I'm not a Linux user, which is probably going to be your first thought.

I wish they had more personality. At least @[email protected] has personality.
Honestly their comment history just reads like someone who's going to snap one day and murder some "Linux users" for being communists or something. Dude should be on a watch list
I just read pages and pages of their comment history and I have no idea what you're talking about.
Idk UM just kind of fell into near copy paste comments. They did a lot of mirror universe/uno reverse card stuff, but that got old too.
Personality isn't the word I'd use. They felt more like a Terry A Davis type. Which if anything is super relevant for this community.
I can only imagine madthumbs' feelings towards TempleOS.
I enjoy this sub being around. Balances things out.
not everyone is a Linux fan, and even Linux fans can enjoy these memes.
Sure, but spending all this time posting frankly unhinged anti-Linux stuff like all the weird communism shit is a completely different matter than making lighthearted jabs at some OS.
maybe it is unhinged, and maybe I'm a Linux user just here to be a bit trolly. or you're a crazy communist Linux fanatic. I think the second one is more likely
Right, because this is surely the height of "Linux humor":
It's just memes.
I used Linux for an entire year as my primary OS and I can confirm it sucks in many ways. The number of Linux evangelists on Lemmy is really high. It's good that this community exists as counterbalance.
Sure, but there's some people who do nothing else but post this stuff, which is when it veers into the territory of being pretty weird. Although I think at least the "Linux users are criminals" weirdo (who was deadly serious about that) who hung around here a lot seems to have gotten banned now, they weren't just really fucking weird but actually belligerent about it
It's probably not, but it's great to see. I love Linux, but the dude isn't wrong.
IMO the desktop/window management projects are where Linux is lacking the most, which is a huge shame considering there has been close to zero innovation on this front since Windows 8 tried to introduce touch features and failed miserably.
I would love to see some more desktop management tools come out that aim to try something different and original. It's a HUGE problem, though, and one that probably needs hundreds of people including those with solid UX credentials, and some absolute wizards that can work around the constraints of "standard" desktops to make something truly great.
Oh, you're such a riot Mr Gates.
