Hi everyone! I'm really enjoying lemmy so far. As someone who used reddit for a while I was wondering about if the blackout protests will still continue. I've heard whispers about another blackout happening on the 30th but it doesn't seem to be something that a lot of subreddits and communities are talking about. Does anyone know when or if reddit will continue with its protest? We need to make the website crash again.

Sure hope so. I don't plan on visiting it again for a while.

All I know is I'm staying here. This place is way better.

I don't know if it'll be coordinated exactly but the 30th is the last day you can use 3rd party apps so a lot of people will be leaving or at least using Reddit less.

Couldn't care less. I deleted my Reddit account.

I'm definitely disappointed that more people didn't stay away and especially all of the subs that didn't stay private but there's not a lot we can do about it. i think people are just way too addicted with getting their endless scroll of distraction and can't be bothered with a mild inconvenience. i cant say I'll never use reddit again because there's such a huge amount of great information there but I'm making an active choice to stay away especially for the next month so they can't count me for any of their precious metrics. But instead of worrying about reddit i think the focus should be on building up alternatives

Hard to say to be honest.

hope it lasts forever to punish reddit's leadership, but I dont much care as I refuse to go back to using it - so if it succeeds or fails, it wont affect me.
