Time to reset the "it's been X days since the last American slave was freed" counter.

[–] nadiaraven 61 points 6 months ago (4 children)

It's literally never been reset. The 13th amendment gives an exception for slavery as punishment for a crime, so all you have to do is convict someone of a bullshit crime and then you've got yourself slave labor. It's still legal. https://www.npr.org/2023/11/13/1210564359/slavery-prison-forced-labor-movement

Yup, and if you find yourself lacking slave driven profit, just pass another law, it's not like the gerrymandered districts will be able to vote your guy out anyways.

I was thinking more of the illegal kind, which according to this, was in 1942.

So you're saying there js a possibility that orange small dick hands can be enslaved?

I wonder who they were planning on voting for. Hmm. Who could it be?

[–] Zachariah 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

With their five (2 + (5 × ⅗)) votes?

[–] Zachariah 10 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

Is it racist that Unicode has a ⅗ symbol?

Haha, been a long time since I’ve watched that.

And I mean, there’s only 20 Unicode symbols for vulgar fractions, and they made ⅗ but didn’t even bother with all of the tenths.

[–] SpaceNoodle 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

But that's the same as six tenths.

[–] Zachariah 2 points 5 months ago

seems my conspiracy theory is debunked now

They look like they'd write in Elvis, but we all know the real answer.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago (1 children)

But I'm reliably told that racism isn't a thing any more.

It's the argument the conservative supreme court used to eliminate many provisions of the civil rights act. Which other judges described as ''standing in the rain under an umbrella and throwing away the umbrella because you're not getting wet''

They look exactly like I expected them to look.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

One tries to not ‘judge a book by it’s cover’, and then people ( like these folks) go out of there way to make their cover match their life’s book. smh

[–] Diplomjodler3 6 points 6 months ago

These people are always their own caricatures.

[–] SpaceNoodle 20 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

That's Mitch McConnell in a wig.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago (2 children)

they were just giving those poor kids jobs

[–] CaptainKickass 17 points 6 months ago

Those kids learned valuable skills according to PragerU

[–] mojofrododojo 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

nah that will never fly with the agricultural, meatpacking and manufacturing industries that employ thousands of these kids.

[–] CodexArcanum 12 points 6 months ago

Look, I understand that phrenology is racist junk science, but you can't tell me that if those two walked into the same coffee shop as you, you wouldn't at least be a little suspicious that they've kidnapped and forced some children into slave labor. They've got the look!
