You're far better off just using an emulator for FF9 than whatever the Epic Store is going to offer. Duckstation, pcsx2, retroarch, whatever. The original is still very playable.

Plus you can pretend the emulator is a good quality version of Epic Store if you really want to.

The .NET rebuild they did on steam is actually pretty solid IMO.

Especially if you mod it to use the AI upscale backgrounds

It also has a 20 times speed mode that makes the chocabo mini game bearable.

You can do that with any emulator, too.

If it is a full remake, as suggested by both the Nvidia leak and these listings, we have no idea what it's going to look like in comparison.

People that don't like early 3D games with super low framerate and sluggish transitions are going to struggle with the original.

Huh, crazy. A remaster would be neat, I really enjoyed FF9.

Square just reported an underwhelming quarter, so I am not gonna be surprised if they announce a remaster/re-release of an old classic to milk their fan base.

Nothing wrong with that of course, but I get the impression it will be a cheap and rushed remaster, with simple upscaling and maybe some built in cheats; $40 please! ($60 with the pre-order bonuses).

That all said, if it does turn into a complete remake I am sure they will turn the story into a convoluted mess with alternate dimensions and time travel.

I would certainly buy ffIX again.

Edit: they should do a collaboration with these guys https://www.ffix-memoria.com/

They're all part of the industry, and this looked amazing.
