Literally just copying London. The article says

The proposal mirrors a similar move in London where a new rail line was called the Elizabeth Line

But it's even more similar than that. The workong name for the Elizabeth Line was "Cross Rail". Which sounds awfully similar to "Cross River Rail".

But also, since when did we name lines that way? All our lines are named for their terminus. There's no reason that should change.

Wow. That is a blatant copy.

It's not even a line - most of the lines will use it as an alternative to the Merivale bridge. It's just a new tunnel for the network.

In the 2000s she was in Melbourne and opened up the new royal children’s hospital. She also opened the original royal children’s hospital.

Imagine being so old that the hospital, built when you were an adult, was so old it was no longer fit for purpose. Metaphor!

The same couldn't be said for her sister, sadly. The old Children's hospital in Perth was called "Princess Margaret Hospital". Unfortunately, Princess Margaret was no longer with us for the new one, so it has the very boring name Perth Children's Hospital.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The opposition launched an online petition in the wake of the Queen's death in September 2022, calling for the multi-billion-dollar rail project to be renamed after the late monarch.

In response to an enquiry from ABC Radio Brisbane, the LNP said they received close to 5,000 signatures in support of their push to call Cross River Rail the Elizabeth Line.

The opposition also confirmed that, should they win the state election in October, they will go ahead with the proposed name change.

"Legibility and familiarity are important aspects in the naming of stations and lines to ensure customers are able to clearly identify destinations and easily move around the network."

Mr Mellish said work to review Cross River Rail station names would begin in "due course".

Within Brisbane, the hospital at Coopers Plains and the Supreme and District Courts in the CBD are both named after Queen Elizabeth II.
