Y'all, Helldivers 2 is just so much fun. I would not have assumed at the beginning of 2024, just after completing Baldur's Gate 3, that I would be championing an always online squad shooter - but this game is just so damn enjoyable. Furthermore, the community has been so engaged and invested in the spirit of liberty that it's made me prioritize a style of game that I thought I had mostly left in my past.

Now we're in the middle of this huge nonsense with PSN and it has completely sucked all the air out of the room. I understand why people are upset and I don't agree with the shit that Sony is trying to pull. I just want to keep this magic going.

I don't have much to say other than try to maintain some empathy for Arrowhead, as this seems to be out of their hands. They genuinely seem to want to just make a kick-ass game.

Keep up the good work Helldivers.

Hopefully Sony will decide that PSN is not worth potentially ruining one of the most successfully live service games.

This truly is a live service game. What you got from day 1 is not the same thing months later.

Even though this game excels in certain communication aspects, there are other parts that fall flat. Par for the course for an online game... and real life.

All I ask is if I get back to my ship it's at the terminal. Having to walk for 10 seconds to get to the terminal every time I leave a lobby is pain.

personally, i like spawning on the cryopods. Gives you a bit of time to interact with your squad. i.e. mandatory bro hug before entering my ship.

I’m sure that’s a future ship module upgrade

I tried looking for an alternative, the best I think is deep rock galactic, but I prefer helldivers play style.

I don't know I just really liked dropping on with some randos, help them, hug and so on.

Even the friends I played with are in favor of SONY, so I am even losing that group of friends.

It's a sad situation all around.

I'm right there with ya! I've put in ~120 hrs w/ DRG to date and was happy, even proud to "tip" the devs with real cash money for silly cosmetics over the year plus that me and the boys went caving for rock & stone! 🤘🏼 Now, just shy of two months into Helldivers 2, I've logged >65hrs and almost got the band back together (thankfully, two of the friends needed to wait until now to make that happen — which seems to have saved them the headache)...

If anyone is "in favor" of SONY's fuckery, they're either lazy or an idiot, or both.

The alternative you are looking for is Starship troopers lol

Why does Sony hate Democracy?

There was a tweet just recently from ~~arrowhead~~ Sony saying they're no longer going forward with the account integration.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

“Empathy for Arrowhead” — have we confirmed the rumor that they actually knew about the integration requirement before launch and still went ahead without saying or doing anything? If so, it’s hard to have empathy for them.

Yes. The CEO confirmed it in a tweet. They knew 6 months prior to launch but chose not to say anything other than a small tag on the steam page.

It's possible that they also didn't think it would be a big deal/didn't know about the players that wouldn't be able to play. Never assume for malice what can be explained with incompetence

[–] Crackhappy 1 points 6 months ago

I do agree, I think it was incompetence.
