I'm sorry, I can't agree that nothing should be done. I would love Twitter to die, but these scams are actively hurting people. They are criminals and must be stopped and Twitter is doing nothing about it, even when Elon himself is used as bait.
The biggest scammer of them all runs Twitter, so don't get your hopes up too high.
I'm not hopeful at all. If anything, it will get worse.
Maybe to someone who's online and knows what to spot it is. For a normie, it's good enough to pass off as authentic.
You and I wind up subsidizing these scams, as victims can fall into the social safety net.
Unlike here, where all the celebrities are 100% real, take it from me.

If the author really wants an adverb, I’d probably go with “unsurprisingly.”

They don't know what the word means. They honestly seem to think that the word ironic means slightly funny.

Just like Security can’t stop every spam email, Twitter can’t stop every falsehood on its service. Both should try, though. Twitter has metrics and can put a stop to trending tweets that are clearly disinformation.
Elon fired that team the moment he bought Twitter.

They had a method of filtering this out before. That's what verification badges were lol. Now it's just a checkmark saying you're a loser who paid to get boosted on social media, and deserve to get bullied for supporting the alt-right.

He doesn't care. He only bought Twitter with Saudi money so that he could trash it and help prevent another Arab Spring.
Step 1. Create Mastodon Instance specifically to cater to oppressed people in oppressive regimes.
Step 2. Create bots to emulate dissidents.
Step 3. Sell instance to oppressive regimes for $$$
Step 4. Rinse and Repeat.
He's a sociopath. He won't care until it costs him money.
Isn't it already costing him money? I find it very hard to believe there hasn't been a dip in ad revenue since all this madness started.
