My dog died, it was snowing, I'll never forget how dark and alone walking out of the vet made me feel. :'(

At least the anniversary only comes every four years.

It's not your fault or anyone else's. It was time. I was extremely lucky for all the time I got with my dog. He nearly made it to 19, he was about five months past 18. He was incredibly healthy for his age, but once it became clear he was in pain and his appetite gave out (that happened several days ago), we knew it was time to say goodbye. His breathing became labored and short throughout the day and we decided we needed to let him go peacefully rather than try to force him to live longer and reduce his quality-of-life. We had a peaceful goodbye with him our laps, petting him and loving on him as he went.

One can understand the reality of life all they want, it doesn't stop the hurting.

I've been there four times. No matter how ready they are, you never are. It's dreadful and dogs are so so wonderful. My old pug is really getting up there, I don't even know how old as he was a stray, but he's almost completely white now from age. I know the day will come but it's so hard. I am glad your boy has such a good long life and a peaceful ending.

I went into the office for mandatory training, caught a virus from someone, and watched the leap day episode of 30 Rock

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

What were you training for? Sounds specific.

Project management, ironically right when I'm finishing one

I suppose it was an unpaid work day for me. Oh well.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Why unpaid? Were they taking advantage of a loophole?

[–] berryjam 4 points 9 months ago

Probably they get paid a flat amount per month/year?

I told my wife she had to propose to me - which she did on bended knee. I then refused her because I'm already married!

Father of the year, everyone!

I forgot to leap anywhere...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

I leapt into bed at the end of the day, but that was it.

I imagine it must be a weird day for the pharmacy.

There was leap day? It was just another day of work for me, nobody around me mentioned it in the slightest.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Yes, every four years. I knew it because the birthday feature in a number of places glitched out all day, like a compass that's right on top of one of the poles.

Stupid, went to office for ridiculous meeting.

I lead a large group of people and sometimes have to pretend to care about one ignoramus’s concerns. That was my leap day. She’s young and inexperienced and is not capable of accepting reality.

Oh yes, kids

Same, at one point at least.

One of my cousins celebrated his birthday that day.

And I didn't care all too much.

Birthdays were never really my thing, that's all.
