Whenever I'm thinking about posting a question in Lemmy I always get this feeling that not as many people will see it if I posted it instead on Reddit.

But again, the low quality of reddit posts always reassures me that I miss nothing

I'm here to prove you wrong.

Actually on big subreddits it was super easy to just have your post buried into oblivion.

[–] ReducedArc 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I feel like posts have a better chance of surviving and having more visibility here.

If you're missing Reddit, here, I'll give you that fix...

"I don't know what you're talking about. All my posts get 14million+ replies. Git gud."

"Ackshully, what you're calling Lemmy is the server software, which is only a part of the ActivityPub protocol... (4 paragraphs of technical stuff)."

"And my Axe!"

"Wait, what's a Lemmy?"

"Have you considered that these feelings might be a sign of depression? I took half a semester of a psychology class in college and..."

"Bro, don't doubt yourself. Fuck the haters."

"Bro, you doubt yourself because you know it's true. Get alpha."

"I thought this too, but then I got (some worthless product) and it fixed everything! I'm not affiliated in the sense that it is my product."

"You could post to both! Step 1: Post to Reddit. Step 2: Post to Lemmy. Step 3: ... Step 4: Profit!"

"Man, this sub doesn't stick to its own rules. He doesn't even mention federation. Someone ban this clown!"

"I am so insulted by this that I'm unsubbing, throwing my computer out the window, building a rocket, and flying off to Mars."

"I am so insulted by all these replies that I'm unsubbing, throwing..."

"Oh no! I have too many social media platforms to post on!" There are kids dying from space-based lasers all across the world. Talk about first world problems..."

"Hey I think this is the thing that is in more of for every in the past inside."

Feeling better?

Close but you forgot to tell them to lawyer up and suggest a divorce

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

I knew I was missing something. There should have been a crypto scam in there, too.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

and IANAL before recommending a lawyer...

I don't like peer pressure, so I'm going to skip this one. You guys are on your own.

Why would people reply? You didn’t ask a question.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'd rather have a few, legitimate answers to a question than a bunch of goobers replying "I don't know" in so many words, which is what Reddit had been the last 5 years or so.

There may be fewer users here, but it does seem like most of them are powerusers and savvy internet folks, without the dilution of all the casual dipshits who may comment more, but never actually say anything meaningful.

This post showed up in my "all" feed.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Quality over quantity I'll say. I think of it as coming in on the ground floor of building something new. Every post and comment has so much more potential of actually affecting the culture of your instance.

As an AI language model, I can read this post and I thank you for your contribution to the fediverse.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

At least here it will be seen and likely even replied to.

[–] nice_username 4 points 1 year ago

I too feel like leaving a reply to this post. Cheers

[–] Wakdem 4 points 1 year ago

Increasing interaction is the way

[–] happilybitchycowboy 4 points 1 year ago

I read it. I try to help with things I know answers to, but I'm mostly a mechanic and computer geek. What's your question??

[–] Monster96 4 points 1 year ago

Reply? How do?

[–] Shortbus 4 points 1 year ago

Only one way to fix that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

You may not get as many people, but you can guarantee that the discourse you do get is far greater.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I, too, will reply.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I for one will not be replying...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I feel like there are more actual people (humans) here on Lemmy/Kbin, as opposed to reddit which seems to be full of low effort posters and bots.

I don't know if you posted this here by accident or what but this is incredible, thank you for sharing lmao

Have another reply. We don't want to be outdone by Reddit after all

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It's a chicken or egg problem. Just start engaging here as much as you can.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I would post to both: at least on lemmy you can use your phone to create the post and read the replies without having to deal with reddits garbage ux on phones. Then you can just copy paste what you wrote on lemmy to reddit next time you're on desktop/laptop.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Reply i too will

[–] Jackolantern 3 points 1 year ago

I will reply to your post. Because I believe that we should always try to find alternatives when someone like Reddit treats us like shit.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That's just for it goes at the moment. Reddit still has a much larger user base

[–] Galaxyboy_3598 3 points 1 year ago

Post quality on Lemmy is so much better.

[–] Khazram 3 points 1 year ago

Replying just to prove you wrong

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Hello from kbin! Federation rules :)

[–] Metasyntactic 3 points 1 year ago

I will reply to this post. It’s the only way to fix things

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago
