Isn't this a co-op game? Why do they need anti-cheat that badly they couldn't at least go for a usermode one?

Gotta protect their micro transactions. Can't have players "cheating" with texture mods.

The anti cheat is a nightmare for all players

They should fix these headlines:

"Helldivers 2 installs rootkit malware"

Stop soft balling it. Literally every game that goes near the kernel should get this headline spread far and wide.

Yeah fuck these greedy ass devs. I don't care if they're indie. They want a root kit anticheat, one of the worst in the Industry just for microtransactions? Get fucked.

The anti-cheat is the key reason myself and local multiplayer group arnt buying it. Even though most of them are on windows.

I don't even use a Steam Deck but I won't get Helldivers 2 because of that kernel-level bullshit. I was so hyped for this game, and now it's just a full no-go for me, and I'm pissed about it.

"Destiny 2 has entered the chat."

The malware works better than the game in that case.

Works for me and I run Garuda which is basically a desktop equivalent to SteamOS.

I just played for like three hours solid. It crashed a few times when I was configuring it before I played the tutorial but other than that it's been fine.

Please consider submitting a record for the game on ProtonDB regarding your config, if you haven't already. That would likely be helpful for others that are running into issues.

Good to hear that it is working well.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Really? ProtonDB is full of reports saying "doesn't run at all"

Yeah, it's totally working outside of when I was configuring the settings initially. After I was able to get into gameplay it just worked and it never had any problems after that. We had a lobby-wide crash that hit me as well and we were all able to launch in and rejoin on the only player who was still in the session.

The game must be inconsistent, as I had 1 crash when attempting to join a friends lobby through the in game menu and a steam invite at the same time, but nothing else after. I didn’t have to adjust settings in Steam. Game just worked with no questions. Running Pop OS with a 4080. Runs fantastically.

I was honestly surprised I didn’t have to adjust anything after reading some complaints online.
