Whoa it's even worse than the title suggest:

appointed a man to a top state prison post even though he had previously been fired from a local police force for receiving oral sex from a teen girl in a post office parking lot.

  • ~~He had sex with a minor~~ ~~he committed statutory rape~~ apparently anyone over 16 is legal in arkansas.
  • Lewd behavior in a public place.
  • While he was a cop (and in a position of power over people)
  • He is appointed to a top prison post (where he has a position of power over people even more).

~~How come he was fired and is not in jail plus a registered sex offender?~~

Apparently he got fired because he got caught.

Law & order, family values.. uh-huh

At least he wasn't trans.

Because having sex with a 17-yo is legal in Arkansas? Because it is.

He was fired for the immorality and "look" of the situation. He broke no laws.

The story here is, "FFS, can her office not engage in the simplest vetting procedures?!"

I would like to point out that receiving oral sex in a parking lot is most likely illegal in w/e his circumstance was. If he was on the clock, or in uniform it could also be considered a "gratuity" in some sense. But that would be something for the courts to decide. You're absolutely correct on everything else.

Reading the article, he was at a gym working out and so was she. They mention she was 17 but do not provide his age nor how long ago this happened, which could help in aging him. So very likely he was not in uniform and not on the clock.

So the illegal part is just public sex. But how did anyone even find out? That's the part that's missing. It was consensual, so they got caught? And the fact that her own mother defended the cop in the situation is just hilarious. Talk about trashy. All of them.

And yet conservatives label liberals as pedophiles...

Edit: tbf we shouldn't label them as such, either.

Every accusation IS a confession when you're so dumb you literally cannot think of fiction. Projection is their thought pattern.

Republican anti-abortion stance is to generate more displaced children for sex trafficking.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Now that sounds like a qanon conspiracy....

I think the reality is that their claimed ideals and actions do not align, and they are a party of projection.

I'm not defending them whatsoever, but your narrative comes off like a looney conspiracy theory the alt-right, qanon, or MAGA radicals would push.

Its not the reason, but its a reason.

Look, if the GOP tossed out the resume of every child molester who wanted an appointment, then they wouldn't be left with anyone.

"who had sex with a minor" if only we hard a term for that...

[–] grayman 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Read the article. She have him a BJ in a parking lot and allegedly said she was 18. She's so trashy her own mother is defending the cop! They don't mention his age either... Was he 20 at the time or 40? That context makes a huge difference, especially in the eyes of the law. Did you do anything with a 17 yo when you were 18 or 19?

That said, dude running around getting BJs in parking lots from trashy girls (of any age) he just met, getting a job from someone running on a morality platform, is quite the ironic situation.

What’s wrong with the word ”rapist”?

[–] LowtierComputer 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It was in Arkansas. 17 is legal there.

[–] grayman 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

16 is the legal limit! But she was 17.

I'm no lawyer, but if I understand it correctly, a minor is someone who is not an adult, but the legal age for intercourse can fall before this age.

Like if you're 16 and that's the legal age, you're still a minor. Can't vote, can't buy a pistol or drink, but you can have sex.

[–] totallynotarobot 2 points 10 months ago

That's fucked up but TIL thanks

he had sexual relations as an adult with a 17-year-old girl

The age of consent in Arkansas is 16

The girl’s mother said she suspected that her daughter might have lied about her age to attract male attention, and the mother added that she didn’t want Jones to go to jail over the sexual relationship with her daughter.

Mothers need to start supporting their daughters. My mom had this attitude too and it made things so much worse.

And what is immoral about this exactly?

Let's just say this: Arkansas

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So you don't have an answer then.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

No, it's not that I don't have an answer, I just don't have an answer for you, it's not my job to educate you
