Colin Furze has done the same thing in the UK on YouTube. I haven't heard any criticism of him.

I'm freakin surprised the council didn't come down on him for not getting planning permission.

[–] tacosplease 18 points 6 months ago (3 children)

I believe Colin did get all the required permissions. That said I also don't care that tunnel lady didn't.

What health and safety risks is she subjecting her neighbors to by digging on her own property?

[–] MrNesser 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

He did a video after the first part of the tunnel being built with an inspection.

That being said he's an engineer he knows how to keep things to code

[–] Eximius 13 points 6 months ago

He is an engineer, not an architect, or even a civil construction engineer. He has noted a few times, he has no idea, and did no calculations, his modus operandi is just to (hopefully) overbuild any requirements of strength. He is probably overbuilding some strength 10x what worst case scenario could be, but it still leaves an avenue for error since he doesnt entirely plan it out fully with simulations.

If the ground shifts and her neighbors yard ends up filling the tunnel, she's exposing her neighbors to the risk of a sinkhole. Fairly small risk considering the size of the tunnel but still a risk I'd like evaluated by someone competent if I was their neighbor

She lives close to other houses so we're just taking her at her word that she isn't undermining any of them. Even if she believes she isn't, how does she know for sure with no real training?

If nobody complains then bureaucrats don't care.

But on December 30, Bogado posted a TikTok video disputing this account.

She said she had tracked down Kala's location and contacted her neighbors, discovering many of them were "migrants from Central America" who chose not to report the digging despite their health and safety concerns because they were worried about immigration authorities.

Basically, for good or for ill, someone narced.

So someone stalked her?

Where I live, I can do whatever I want to my property (for the most part.)

Seems like this would only be an issue for people who do not actually own their property, like those subject to an HOA.

In clinical practice, we see far far more worry (some of it very scary) than relief when someone comes in to say they have embarked upon treatment or have determined treatment based upon their own research. However, some people are actually quite good at it. The worst however are people who have expertise in something else.

How did race get thrown into this? And if she is digging on her own property and not under a neighbors house? That's not an issue with health and safety of anyone else. I guess I don't see the issue with all of this. Who gives a fuck if she is building a tunnel under her yard.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

The government usually. I can't sneeze in my backyard without a permit.

[–] wildcardology 3 points 6 months ago

Does anyone really believe she dug it by herself?
