Dessert churro

Are there any other kinds? This isn't a joke; I'd be stoked to find out there were savory churros.

I normally think of a churro as a kind of eat-as-you-walk snack, as opposed to something served alongside ice cream and covered in chocolate and whipped cream.

That's fair.

And it also gave me an idea for ice cream in a churro cone as being a fair food I haven't seen before. 🤤

I’ve seen fairs do chopped up churro over ice cream in paper cup, but a churro cone is the kind of innovation the world needs.

You could get a political office on a slogan like that.

I'd think you could eat one as a breakfast pastry.

I mean, I don't think that the primary role of the doughnut is dessert. Sweet, sure, but not dessert.

In Spain churros are had for breakfast or as a snack and are dipped in a not very sweet hot choco

Still not savory tho!

I've made them savory before, pretty good with some Parmesan and dipped in tomato sauce, or stuffed with cheese and mushroom pâté.

Other sweet things that are good savory are waffles, leftover grilled corn topped with crema, chillies, and lime juice. And French toast, I'm partial to just throwing some Garam Masala in the batter, then topping with chutney, or tamarind sauce.

The best pancake I ever had was a savory one with scallions baked in. I think it's a Chinese dish? Super delicious.

Yes, that's Chinese. I love them and they're pretty easy to make. It's a laminated dough, but much more forgiving than a croissant which can be a biznatch to make in a hot kitchen.

Usually called green onion pancake or scallion pancake. Serious Eats has a good recipe here https://www.seriouseats.com/extra-flaky-scallion-pancakes-recipe
