I always laugh at the non car people who quote wisdom from the 80s.

Modern BMWs, Mercedes, and Audis are just fine reliability wise. Even Stellantis shit is far more reliable than anything from that era. You'll pay a 20% premium on labor/parts but it's because it's a nicer vehicle.

Can't say I agree with you. Maybe modern Stallantis is more reliable than 80s Beamers or Audis, but there are plenty of high mileage turbo diesel Mercs from the 80s running around being daily driven. I personally don't believe any of those makers are producing cars of the same quality of those 80s TD Mercedes
