I'm saying they should do the exact same thing trump did and will face no consequences for and see how the Republicans respond in turn.

[–] WoahWoah 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The problem is that the democrats are playing the game called "democracy." The Republicans stopped following the rules of the game because they don't want to play it anymore. If the Democrats do what the Republicans do, then the game is no longer be played. You can't really give up on democracy and then bring it back. It rarely ever works that way.

If you cede the ground of democratic norms, rules, and policies just to win, you ultimately lose because you no longer have a democracy. In many respects, getting the Democrats to start doing the same thing is precisely what the Republicans want. Because that means they can finish burying democracy, and they're better positioned to win the game called "fascism."

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, but as this election showed, people cant be trusted. Theres no need to try and preserve our "democracy" because our democracy led to this. Instead, democrats just need to take over via any means neccassary.

[–] WoahWoah 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Sounds like a brilliant plan. "They're being fascist so we have to be fascist!" has worked so well in history.

You effectively said, "I didn't do anything to change anyone's mind, and neither did the party that I support through the bare minimum of voting once every four years, so since the majority of people in this country don't agree with me, I think I want to play fascism instead of democracy too! Except I'm the good kind of fascist! I just don't think the majority of voters should get their way, that's all."

Hard eye roll on that one.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yep. Pretty simple. As evidenced, humans wont do that ght unless they are forced to do right. Glad to see you understand so well.

The board is set. The dems can pretend democracy as usual but it will all be fruitless. Now is the time to peel back any remaining facade of the america we once knew and go toe to toe with the fascist take over. The longer we wait the deeper they will burrow into the heart of this nations government and one morning you'll just wake up living in a fascist regime.

[–] WoahWoah 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

You can't beat fascism with fascism. It doesn't work that way.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 1 points 1 week ago

Fascism won. The democrats proved they can't beat fascism, period.

[–] Lauchs 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

You want them to simultaneously seem like hypocrites AND idiots?

To what end? Funsies?

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

They would be exposing the hypocrites. They already look look like fucking morons for losing to trump, again, so not much to salvage there. Tell me any American could not miss the message when democrats stop the confirmation, roll out their own fake electors, and confirm kamala herself. Hell, have biden make it an official act because why not? Any person to object to it could not be totally lost on them this is exactly what Trump attempted to do and will not be punished for it.

Now, anyone knows this plan will fall flat. That's not how these things work. It would just stir the pot so brilliantly it might actually get the little brain cell they are guarding to light up.

[–] NeoNachtwaechter 2 points 2 weeks ago

They would be exposing the hypocrites

Exposing hypocrites never brings any real gain, only an opportunity to get upset.

Now please don't get me wrong: getting upset might be worth it for many, many people. Getting upset is one of the highest valued things in our time.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

it would just stir the pot so brilliantly

Lol, no.

The world doesn't work like this.

Who would get fired up who wasn't already on side? Independents or those on the fence would just note that the Democrats were pulling the same nonsense they just spent four years crying fascism about. Right wingers would just see confirmation that the rules don't matter. On the Left, the adults among us would see this as a stupid, hypocritical temper tantrum with no possibility of success and a further erosion of democratic norms.

This would be super unhelpful.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I disagree entirely. I would see the GOP get a taste of their own medicine and the DNC not be pussy bitches too afraid to serve it. Like it or not, your measured, "adult in the room" shit isn't working and most people just feel condescended too. It's of little consequence because what you have yet to accept is the door is shut already and the hissy fit would be honestly the last opportunity for the left to do something.

They won't.

They're punk ass bitches.

Just like you.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

last opportunity for the left to do something.

To do what? This would accomplish exactly as much as when a toddler has a tantrum in the grocery store.

"Oh no, the Dems tried some nonsense that doesn't in any way inconvenience us, whatever will we do?!? Anyway."

If you think highlighting the hypocrisy would jolt people, I again remind you of the Supreme Court fun with Garland and RBG.

All this does is make it harder for people to take the Dems seriously next time.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sad lol

This is why people have a hard time taking the left seriously.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The people you should be taking seriously is the right. They've crushed the dems at every impasse. Every power struggle since Regan the right has won out completely. They are playing for keeps and for you now to condescend to me at the height of their power, it's a fucking joke. You lost. You'll continue to lose. You're playing checkers they are stocking ammo.

Fucking joke.

It doesn't have to be that way, you know.

The morals you espose, come from a place they don't have. It's a weight, it's hard. Lift the weight and toss it aside, it's holding you back. You don't have anything left to fear. The worse has happened. There's no reversing climate change. There is no American democracy to even go back to, it was a rigged game from the start. Unburden yourself. Use that wasted energy for a limp dick party like the democrats and join the rest of us in the new world.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And the thing you are espousing is a stupid plan that doesn't help change anything.

If republicans are that dangerous, don't help them by throwing a pointless temper tantrum that erodes support.

This isn't complicated kid.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

What the fuck do you care what happens to the dems? They don't give a shit about you.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Because I'm a functional literate adult and they are the best chance of making things better in America?

Throwing a temper tantrum in Congress isn't going to help.

Voting in the primaries and moving the party to where you want it to be, does help!

And I'm mature enough to realize that not everyone will agree with my politics, so I'll probably vote the farthest Left that I think can win their race, so as to not help Republicans.

This shit matters. While I'll be fine pretty much no matter what, not everyone is so lucky. So, as a person with empathy, it's important to think about what will help versus what is some stupid shit that would make me giggle but would be zero help (like your proposed electors nonsense.)

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You're not adult, you're throwing a tantrum. You need to accept this loss was a complete loss. There's not going to be a righteous come back. Grow the fuck up. They are a sunk cost and I pray 🙏 for you when you come to this realization. You seem to need them.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago

You need to accept this loss was a complete loss. There’s not going to be a righteous come back.

Kid, I get it feels like that. I remember being young and super upset about elections and thinking similarly but in retrospect, that was probably just the emotional rollercoaster of being a young teen and hey, I get you, that's difficult. Especially with the world even worse now.

But, losing 51 to 49% in a time when almost every incumbent government has suffered shattering losses isn't all that ridiculous, unexpected or an ominous harbinger of unavoidable doom. Deciding that it is such and making the only viable opposition party look even dumber though, well, that helps trump for next term.

Yes, trump will do a lot of damage. But, things can and hopefully will, get better. Remember, he was elected in 2016 and what happened the very next election?

I'd strongly suggest reading more about the world. It's boring at first but it'll give you perspective, context and understanding. (Or at least learn what a sunk cost is.)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

independants or those on the fence would just note that the democrats were pulling the same nonsense

Yeah, and they fucked our country so fuck them. If you were "on the fence" about this election then you simply dont desrve voting rights. Your opinion does not matter anymore.

Right wingers would just see it as confirmation that the rules dont matter

Cool, nothing changes.

On the left, the adults would see this as stupid, hypocritical temper tantrum

Ah yes, the adults who have gotten so much done with the erosion of our democracy since 2016. Bruh fuck "the adults" too, you guys failed us. Get out of the way and let actual progress happen instead of considering maybe possibly giving ukraine a little bit of funding but definitely giving isreal nukes to use on civs.

You people who want to work within the law while republicans consistently evade it are at best a waste of space. As worst, you are actively convincing people to simply pretend the issues are going to solve themselves, cause god knows you and your party wont.

[–] Lauchs -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, and they fucked our country so fuck them. If you were "on the fence" about this election then you simply dont desrve voting rights. Your opinion does not matter anymore.

Ironically, this is how a large swathe of the country feels about those who voted for Harris.

Kid, we couldn't even get a majority of Americans to vote with us this time. Hystrionics and temper tantrums are not going to make things better.
