Greed applies to all of these companies let's be honest.

Greed could encompass most of the 7 sins.

Lust - Greed for sex

Sloth - Greed for relaxation

Gluttony - Greed for food

Envy - Greed of others stuff

The only two that don't really fit under greed is pride and wrath

Pride - Greed for attention

Wrath - Greed for violence

Pride could work but wrath is a stretch

Wrath - Greed for control

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001 5 points 2 months ago

I was gonna put pride in there as greed for power but pride comes in many forms.

As for wrath I don't see it as a greedy thing it's something that is provoked. Evoked I should say.

Wrath - Greed for self-serving ends

Greed, the character from FMAB, has an interesting take on this concept. He extends the concept to call the idea of the heroes winning completely (i.e. they get their bodies back, defeat the bad guys, no one dies) to be a form of greed, and the idea of greed is independent of morality.

You could call this unhelpful broadening of the concept of greed, but I think it's an interesting reframing of something people usually think of very negatively.

Can't the same be said about Lust?

[–] deus 2 points 2 months ago

Greed is lust for money

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

I've always seen greed as wanting more of something you already have, while lust is wanting something you don't have to begin with. Gluttony would be similar to greed, but with more of a focus on using then obtaining.

That's kind of companies work. The problem is when the company becomes the industry standard.

Basically go for smaller companies and generic brand products. They are better sometimes anyway.
