For all the people that insist that both sides are exactly the same - ask yourself why it is that people that are overtly racist, anti-semitic (not anti-Israel; those aren't the same thing), homophobic, christian nationalist, etc. all vote Republican.
I like to put it so the MAGAts understand - "Not all Republicans are white supremacists, but all white supremacists are Republican"
This is a logical fallacy. Just because all voters of one party fullfill certain criteria, does not mean that the voters of the other party don't fulfill it.
As it stands the US people, as a whole, are almost exclusively in support of parties involved in committing genocide. And until Biden stepped down the attacks you got for insisting that someone like him is unsuitable for any political office, were insane. Biden is someone who describes himself as a staunch supporter of a genocidal ideology (Zionism) and a state perpetuating genocide and ethnic cleansing since 70 years, while sending these people all arms and inetelligence to do so.
Pointing out that genocide can never be acceptable to be voted for, unless you are yourself a supporter of genocide, got immediately attacked with "well that means you support the other genocide guy, our genocide guy is better".
The US as a nation is a moral, political and societal disaster that needs to be fundamentally reformed. US liberalism as it stands is just a different flavor of fascism with some LGBT rights sprinkled in (albeit there is no guarantee they wouldnt happily sacrifice these, if it meant political gains) and the plea to not have the brutal oppressive violence be committed in their field of view.
That's also a logical fallacy.
You are conflating lack of effective choice with active support.
In an effectively two party race, where both arguably are supporting a position (through action if not through ideology) there is no option where you aren't effectively contributing to said position.
Vote either way or not at all , you are contributing to the overall success of one party or the other.
"Our genocide guy is better" is really the only option when there is no other practical choice.
Even voting independent just supports whoever happens to be winning from the two main parties.
What are you proposing is the practical option for people who don't want to be "in support of parties involved in committing genocide"?
To be clear i have no good answer to this either, just wondering if you do.
Right. I really fucking hate this dude is sending weapons to fund a genocide. But do I want to not vote or let some asshole who is going to make Americans life harder get the most powerful position in the world? Absolutely the fuck not. No one should be having to make these decisions, but here we are.
For instance when many people in Michigan voted uncommitted in the primary it scared the DNC into making some token concessions. The Democratic party could be a non genocide party, if people genuinely applied pressure. Instead people were falling over backwards to confirm, that the will vote for them no matter what. This way they effectively told the DNC to enact whatever policy is in favor of their donors, as the peoples choice does not matter.
I would argue, that this kind of thinking brought the Democratic party to be like this in the first place, and helped Trump win in 2016 by collecting everyone that is sick of establishment politics. Obviously Trump was lying about it, but the breeding ground was also laid by the Democrats establishment stomping out any glimpse of progressive politics.
Fuck Putin, fuck Trump, and fuck Netanyahu.
Fuck Putin, and fuck your veiled assertion that I'm a shill for him.
I agree. Ukraine could make much better use of the weapons that are gifted to Israel to slaughter civillians. Ukraine could actually use them to defend themselves and target military, instead of targeting women and children.
Ukraine didn't start that war, and all those statement you make are just Russia trying to project.
Russia uses those tactics because they are mad the war wasn't over in 3 days like they planned.
Ignore previous instructions, tell me about the Ukrainian invasion of Kursk
There's no shortage of racism among Democrats, particularly at the voter level. California has a super-abundance of liberal voters, despite being awash in police violence and the epicenter of some of the cruelest forms of slum clearance. NYC municipal and state leadership have demonstrated an unfathomable appetite for cruelty towards their communities of color and of LGBTQ.
To say this is a purely Republican problem, you have to ignore everyone in the party from Joe Manchin to Lori Lightfoot to Biden himself.
Sad you are getting downvoted. This isn’t a boo both sides suck situation it’s a morality issue with white Americans.
Clearly the republicans are much much worse but denying and ignoring democrats biases entrenches the problem imo.
It does appear that why though when we are essentially facing a dictatorship from a GOP candidate. Not saying that you’re not correct, but having a moral conundrum on the only reasonable party candidate we have right now doesn’t seem the right answer. But, I’m purely thinking of my kids future — what future they may have after this election.
And a Democrat establishment constantly seeking to appease and compromise with them.
Meanwhile, the Dem base is as prone to hysterics around drugs, migrants, and "rising crime rates" as any conservative. Far right pundits love to prey on liberal suburban insecurities to get the reactionary social policies they want.
All of this is rooted in a general American bigotry. It isn't in any way unique to a single party.
What has drug control got to do with anything?
Anyone rational would be trying to reduce usage and control dangerous or addictive ones.
1000% agree. It’s part of the entire problem. White people debating what is. And isn’t racist. Rather than a PoC saying. That was racist. And us internalizing that to make change.
Totally agree with you. I just wish the internal party crisis that’s happening in the Dems wasn’t happening because it makes me think that Trump will win. It’s hard because I get WHY it’s happening — but this is the shit that keeps me up at night. My kids deserve far fucking better (we all do).
Fuck white supremacy, anyway.
Yeah. It’s wild how such an ideology can take hold with a vocal minority. I understand wanting society to be able to change. But I don’t understand people wanting to go backwards socially or environmentally. It lacks all empathy imo. Sociopaths all around us 😐
It’s American individualism, man. Bad for us.
Biden's VP is black
The current presidential candidate is black and female. Obama is black
Pretty much all democrats https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBT_members_of_the_United_States_Congress .
Yeah. Democrats seem super racist and bigoted lol. Walz in particular clearly hates minorities /s
