Eh.
Even if he goes to jail, the max for his convictions is like 4 years- and they’ll probably be served concurrently.
But it’s very rare for these kinds of crimes to elicit jail time to begin with, and let’s be honest, they’re gonna put on the kid gloves to avoid looking political.
True, but his constant violations of gag orders and other examples of contempt (both in the colloquial and legal sense of the word) has made probation pretty much out of the question, even WITH the kid gloves.
It's a moot question if he wins in November (which is unfortunately looking likely right now) though, since the appeals process won't be done by then and he and his fascist sycophants will find a way to give him the power to pardon himself for state crimes.
Four years at his age with a lifetime of bigmacs mights just do Donnie Two Scoops in.
Toss in prison health care.
I’d love to see it. Wake me when it happens,
It's 4 years per conviction.
That’s… what I said….
This is a state court. That being said, the crimes are also class E white collar felonies, which almost always elicit a concurrent sentence and little to no time in an actual prison. That being said, it’s at the judge’s discretion and he is allowed to consider trump’s behavior throughout the duration of the trial and after as factors in his sentencing. I’m not saying the judge will give him 136 years in prison (but that would be hilarious), I think it’ll probably be more like 4 years concurrent on house arrest or something like that.
He’s also going to be considering “pillar of the community” bullshit, as well as the whole “will me giving what he deserves give justification for overturning my sentencing” bullshit.
Most likely, Merchan will give the precisely normal sentence- which doesn’t include jail time.
