Hi folks,

I’ve rapidly fallen in love with the wefwef application but have run into an issue that seems to be affecting it and other third part apps.

My Lemmy Instance, programming.dev, appears to have introduced CloudFlare protection to the domain, requiring new connections to prove they’re human. This appears to be causing issues for wefwef and other applications.

Is there anything that I can do on my end to resolve this, or is this an issue that needs to be resolved by the app/instance maintainers?

I like viewing home or all or a community by one type of sort (hot or active), but I always want the comments of a post to sort by another type (top). Is that possible? If not, I can submit a proper RFE.

Great job with this app and I am amazed at the blinding speed the team is moving.

I hope you can find room in your roadmap to add a feature that allows a user to pick their favourite communities and have those favourites brought to the top of the subscription list for easier access.

I loved the ability in Apollo to quickly navigate to my few favourites.

I think the community name should be shown above the preview image of the post. Seeing the community name is important for the context of whatever the post is. I'd like to see the name before seeing the actual post.

Is there anyway to customize the web app so that my clock is automatically black? I’m one of those heathens that prefer the light theme in iOS and this currently makes it very hard for me to realize it’s 3am and I need to go to sleep.

First time it happened I thought it was a fluke, but then I did it again after spending nearly 10 minutes typing up a detailed comment. If you drag the post comment dialogue down, it takes you back to the thread. This loses what you've typed and has no confirmation, nor is the text still there when you reopen the comment dialogue.

I've managed to do this twice entirely by accident (once when I was trying to scroll down to reread the comment I was replying to). The dialogue can be dragged down from anywhere (not just the top like I would have expected), so it's easy to do this when trying to scroll. The longer your comment, the more likely you'll need to scroll and the worse it is when you do this.

I’d love it if wefwef could save sort preferences per-community/view like Apollo did.

Really makes switching between big and small communities a lot easier.

Go check it out, it's pretty cool. It also shows a check mark which is a nice visual cue for sorting.

btw, are there any graphic designers here with experience with SVGs? If we want to make this feature even better, we need custom calendar icons!

As content is at the core of any platform, I feel most feature requests on this community now revolve around consuming content while it should be primarily about creating content. I didn't see many issues on github regarding content creation either.

I personally would love to see an 'edit' and 'delete' option for OPs, as that's currently not possible from within wefwef. It is possible to edit and delete comments, but for OPs one needs to visit the web interface of Lemmy.

I slightly less annoyance is the situation where some software keyboards overlap the text when an OP or a comments is added. Specifically if it concerns longer OPs and comments.

wefwef just returns a white screen on my phone (iphone 6 on ios 12.5.7) ive tried different browsers (not many options tbh) but nothing seems to work

I just lost my third or fourth long comment by tapping slightly too far to the right on my screen 😔

When I search on WefWef, it will return results all over from federated servers. There are times when my searches return news from a country I’m not in and I’d like to hit the 3 dots on that server and block it entirely.

Given the strong genetic link between wefwef and Apollo, I think it would be great to acknowledge and describe the origins of wefwef’s UX design. In a few months, there will (hopefully) be new signups who never used Reddit, and never had the opportunity to use the awesome piece of software Christian developed over the better part of a decade. I’d like to see the legacy and history of Apollo live on, even if it’s just that iconic icon and a few sentences.

Maybe we could have an “Ode to Apollo” somewhere under the settings menu?

Any chance on adding a NSFW blur toggle to permanently remove the blur?

Any button that pops up a list of buttons from the bottom (like pressing the 3 dots in the top right) only works once. If I try to use it again, it flashes on screen and disappears.

It seems I have to fully reload the app to get it to work again. Then it again only works once.

I'm not sure if this is an iOS bug or an issue with wefwef, but any time I select a text entry, I don't get a keyboard on an iPhone 13 running iOS 16.5.1 and wefwef 0.10.4.

Is this a known issue?

This is extremely weird, I have never seen anything like this before.

I've been using wefwef for days just fine on my Android 13 Pixel 6 Pro, today, after rebooting the phone though, the wefwef PWA is gone.

Reinstalling wefwef and rebooting multiple times reproduce the same results.

To make sure this is not a browser(KIWI) or system issue, I tried installing Twitter PWA and reboot after that, the PWA remains.

I guess you could consider this a feature request, and that mod tooling is a ways off, but it’d be nice to default to not showing deleted posts, since it can be pretty confusing to see them without a different indicator or so :)

When share option is used for sharing the post link it is not sharing text along with it.

It would be great if title of the post is shared as the text along with the URL.

I usually share interesting links to a notepad application which can capture text and URL from other applications but for this app it only shows the URL.

Images are blurred but any animation/GIF/Video tagged with NSFW seems to still be unblurred by default. I don't want to broswe /c/all in public now 😅

Hey there, I set up a Wefwef-Instance behind a ngninx reverse proxy. The server responds fine, yet when I call it through a forwarded domain, Wefwef will only return the page-header ("wefwef for lemmy") and a black page. Does anyone know why that would be?

Hey loving Wefwef so far, great work! Whenever I post something or upvote something i get an error message saying it failed, but it seems like it didn't actually fail? Should I just ignore it? Would devs prefer we report bugs somehow?

first of all: thanks for this amazing looking and working app, I use is everywhere but on Firefox 115 on Android 11/MIUI 12.1.1 the "Install" button the the menu doesn't do anything. I disabled all addons (uBlock, Darkreader and Https Everywhere) but no change.

Is there any way to find out why installation is not working?

Update: Correcting permission for Firefox to allow setting Home Screen Shortcuts solved the issue
