NSFW not always blurred? (sh.itjust.works)
submitted 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) by [email protected] to c/voyagerapp

I'm not sure if this a bug in the new version or something else at play, but several explicitly marked NSFW posts in my feed have been unblurred as I scroll today. It's not every post, just some. Viewing the comments and backing out blurs the image correctly. Might be worth investigating.

V 2.20 on Android

Edit: enough ppl in this thread confirming, I'll get a GitHub issue opened after dinner.

Not sure if it's just me but I've noticed that Voyager is running approx 25-50% smoother now in performance thanks to the recent 2.20.0 update!

@[email protected]
thank you and the contributors for making Voyager run even better than before!🥳✊

Edit:
I found the Liberapay link for Aeharding/Voyager within the app, may I make a suggestion to also add the link to the repo and F-Droid page?🤔🤗

After updating the app, I opened the app to realize that the top and bottom layers have changed, grey top and black bottom.

I'm on android 13 and I have the latest update app. Any way I can fix that ?

Video issue on iOS (lemmy.world)
submitted 5 days ago by TalkativeM to c/voyagerapp

I’m not sure where the issue is so I’m starting here. I was sent a link to lemy.lol from someone who was able to watch it. When I try to open it I just get a failed to load media error. I downloaded the video and was able to play it. The other person is using Android.

I’m don’t think it is specifically a voyager issue since it happened in browser too but I’m hoping someone here might know what to do.

Allowing users to block instances similar to blocking communities via tap and holding on any community name.

This would simplify and improve the user experience as it would allow users to block instances instead of requiring then to navigate to the filters settings to then manually type for the instance.

I'm assuming the implementation should be fairly easy and beneficial as:

  1. The tap and hold menu is already implemented
  2. The selected instance can be directly added to the blocklist reducing the need to search, thereby slightly improving performance. (I could be wrong about this point)

I have some communities I am subscribed to that are automated, and consequently become very spammy in the home feed, but I still want to view and engage with their content. It would be nice if there was a "mute" feature distinct from blocking that would allow hiding posts in a a community from the home feed but still allowing subscribing, since blocking unsubscribes you.

Related post in a similar spirit

Small bug. When I block a community, the pop up says ‘user blocked’. The community does get blocked though so it’s functional.

I clicked on a Loops link, which opened in the built in browser. Upon tapping Done, the audio (at the very least) kept playing. Voyager 2.19.3, iOS 18.1.1.

Edit: can't seem to replicate after force closing the app.

Hey, this is a really good app. the communities have grown enough to actually be a really good alternative to reddit.

my requests, can we have the ability to discover new communities within an instance our account is logged in to? I'm having to go to the actual instance in browser to subscribe and add a community to my feed.

also, can there be a context menu item to request to federate/subscribe to a community with another account? I'm finding I've have to make accounts in multiple instances since some have communities that are exclusive to their network so it would make migrating easier.

Sometimes I will post a link and no thumbnail seems to be pulled from the link. Is this a case by case basis or do I need to do something else?

Hello!

I’ve updated Voyager’s build and release process to automatically include new fixes and features in test builds.

iOS users have always had TestFlight, and now Android users can join testing through Google Play Open Testing:

👉 Google Play Open Testing

I’m looking for Android testers! If you’re okay with occasional bugs and want to help out and report issues on Github, I’d be grateful.

P.S. Also new: For PWA users, you can now test updates here:
👉 beta.vger.app

Thank you!

Translate within the app? (self.voyagerapp)
submitted 3 weeks ago by I_Miss_Daniel to c/voyagerapp

By default I tend to see a lot of German and Greek posts in amongst the English ones.

It might be nice to have an option where the app can translate these in the default view, either on demand or automatically. (perhaps cached on the server to save CPU time?)

Even if it's just the post title, that could be interesting.

Hi, loving the app!

Something I hope could be added as a feature would be the ability to set an instance to use as the base for all link creation. As an example, I would like to always share Lemmy.world links when I’m sending links to posts to my friends. Currently, the share button shares the canonical link to wherever the OP’s home instance is.

There is a web app called Lemmyverse.link that will create Lemmy.world links from any Lemmy link, but it would be extremely convenient if this functionality were built into Voyager.

Ideally this could be added as a feature to Lemmy, but in the meantime, I’m hoping it could be added to Voyager!

I’m not sure at what point this happened but the self-hosted web app no longer shows the current version number. It does update regularly as expected and shows that it’s up to date, but the number itself is missing.

How do "user tags" work? (self.voyagerapp)

-- EDIT: Despite my attempt at testing the issue before making the post, it appears the issue was entirely me and not the app. Image zoom is working flawlessly. --

Before the most recent update, it was possible to zoom in on an image post. It was a useful feature for multi-panel comics and images with a lot of text. It appears that the fix for blurry text in images may have unwittingly broken the zoom function.

/edit: I'm using the newest update of the android app from Google Play store

It would be nice if notfications about new reports in the mod queue would be displayed in the inbox.

Right now I have to check the mod queue manually to see if there are new reports. This could lead to delays in moderating reported content.

Since yesterday, I keep getting update notifications. However, the updates seems to not tell what’s updated and it’s very spam-ish. Was wondering if other people have the same issue;

When I put my iPhone down for a bit and come back to Voyager, the app resets back to the top of the feed. I then have to scroll so far down to find the place I was at.

My iPhone settings does not show Voyager app in the background app refresh settings.

I believe this setting would keep the feed in the same place when I bring the app back.

User tags are going to be so useful. Keep up the good work, @[email protected]!

Please add presets to user tags so that it may be easier to tag the specific users as typing and colour selecting each time takes a little extra effort.

I love the feature as it makes easier to track interesting characters and alts. Lemmy needs user tags more than Reddit ever did.

Ever since an update two or three days ago, Voyager has been displaying nothing but a blank screen on my phone.

Just running the PWA on Firefox 132.0.2 on my old Samsung Galaxy S10. I get the same results when visiting vger.app directly.
