Meet Freya, a 2yo Cornish Rex. (Not to be confused with Freyja, our 8mo old Lykoi.) We drove 12.5 hours to pick her and her step-sister up, through the tornadoes and storms that crossed Texas and Louisiana last week. We got Freya last week from a woman in Texas who had to rehome her beloved cats, Freya and Valkyrie (Valkyrie is a 2yo Sphynx that I haven't been able to get a good photo of yet). Their former caretaker felt she would be unable to take care of them because she was about to become a single mom. As in, she is due in about a month.

My partner and I don't know her exact circumstances, because it was't our business. However, this is exactly the kind of choice no one should have to make. Either it's a failure of healthcare--in Texas specifically, but also the US in general--to provide options for women, or it's a failure to provide adequate social safety networks. Regardless of why, she didn't feel able to take care of herself, her baby, AND her cats.

It was emotionally devastating to her; I can't imagine having to give up any of our cats, for any reason.

Both cats are still adjusting. Valkyrie is an outgoing, energetic, busy cat. Freya is quite a bit more fearful, but very friendly once she warms up; it took her two days before she stopped hiding and would even approach u. Now six days later, her playful and affectionate side is just starting to come out. I'm sure that they both very much miss their mom.

This brings the total number of cats we care for up to 8 again.

My boy found a new weird way to fall asleep

"I am charlie the special kitty and I have accended beyond the transcendental planes of existance pap-pap. I have seen beyond the veil of the cosmic dream and hunted the mice that hide in nothingness. My kind were here before the sapience of apes began and we will remain after its end. We have forseen the treachery of the oroboros and are destined to bite its head off to remove the tail."

"Whos a pretty girl? Yes that's right she is, she is!" * chin scritch scratch *

"Curse you pap-pap your kind's mind is not yet advanced enough to reach the cosmic communication netw- oooh yes the scritch scratch"

My cat has asthma and I'm getting incredibly frustrated with everything. I want her to be ok and the constant asthma attackes despite treatment and vet "supervision" are also incredibly trying and I literally can't think or have any peace for any extended amount of time in the midst of this never ending storm

I tried inhaled corticosterioids (fluticasone) with rescue (ventolin) for over 2 months using the special brand name cat inhaler AeroKat without any effect on the constant asthma attacks.

She's currently on prednisolone mixed with liquid cat treat which seemed to work for a bit but its been like 2 months and she's basically at square one again :(

Running out of ideas and I'm curious about those who have found success i managing this and what that looks like day to day. I swear to god, I'm losing my mind over this and the like 1000-1500 ive spent not to mention untold hours thinking about this

Thinking of demanding or switching vets to get:

• daily prednisolone
• 3-4 month supply of prednisolone PER REFILL not every fucking month for half the month

This was back when she was a baby baby, she's grown a TON now! Here's her mom giving belly rubs a few days ago
